Job summary

Kleinfelder's Construction Services team in San Diego is seeking a Laboratory Construction Materials Testing Technician on a flex basis. You will perform lab testing on soils, asphalt, aggregates, and concrete, and support general lab operations to help ensure project quality.

This role offers hands-on experience in construction materials testing, geotechnical support, and laboratory operations, with opportunities for professional development and continued certification through on-the-job

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a drug screening.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
• Ability to work flexible construction-related schedules including nights/weekends.
• Ability to travel locally to support project assignments.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine to moderately complex laboratory tests on construction materials (soils, asphalt, aggregates, concrete).
• Prepare, label, and organize test specimens and samples.
• Document and record test data accurately.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and testing areas in good condition.
• Support with receiving, handling, and tracking samples.
• Follow lab procedures, standards, and safety requirements.
• Assist with additional lab and project tasks as needed by supervision.
