Job summary

Certerra Southern Engineering in Charlotte, NC is hiring an entry level Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician to join a fast-paced, team-focused practice. The role involves field and laboratory testing, travel to client sites, and documentation of results.

Ideal candidates have 0–2 years of CMT experience, safety awareness, and a willingness to learn and grow within a consulting environment. Valid driver's license required.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of construction materials testing experience (entry level)
• ACI Concrete Field-Testing Certification preferred
• ICC certifications preferred
• NCDOT certifications preferred
• Strong safety focus and attention to detail
• Excellent plan reading skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving history

Responsibilities

• Field and laboratory testing of construction materials.
• Maintaining required certifications (ACI, ICC, NCDOT).
• Coordinating with clients and Project Managers.
• Travel to client facilities as needed.
• Report writing and computer skills.
• Provides clear documentation of findings and results.
• Performs basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager.
• Communicates information to Project Manager and other personnel as directed by the PM.
• Assists higher level technicians on complex tasks.
• Maintains assigned equipment and related calibration.
• Follows safety rules and practices for all projects.
• Maintain quality standards on all projects.

Job Summary

Certerra Southern Engineering has an immediate opening for a full-time entry level Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician in Charlotte, North Carolina. The position is best suited for someone interested in working in a fast-paced consultant environment, does not mind some travel, and capable of effectively working as part of a collaborative team.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Field and laboratory testing of construction materials.
• Maintaining required certifications (ACI, ICC, NCDOT)
• Coordinating with clients and Project Managers.

Education/Qualifications: (any of the below certifications: not all are required)

• 0-2 years of construction materials testing experience
• ACI Concrete Field-Testing Certification (preferred)
• ICC certifications (preferred)
• NCDOT certifications (preferred)
• A strong safety focus and attention to detail
• Excellent plan reading skills
• A demonstrated math and technical aptitude
• Flexibility to work extended or non-traditional hours as needed
• Excellent Verbal and written communication skills
• A High School diploma or equivalent
• A valid driver’s license and clean driving history

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, standing, and walking on uneven ground on construction sites.
• The ability to lift 50-75 pounds
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
