Job summary

Saulsbury Industries is seeking a seasoned leader to plan, organize, and lead electrical substation project execution, ensuring safety, quality, cost control, and timely schedule adherence.

You will head the on-site project team, coordinate with owners and subcontractors, review proposals, allocate resources, manage budgets and forecasts, and uphold a strong safety culture across all field activities.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of construction experience.
  • 5+ years managing electrical substation projects.
  • Knowledge of project plans, specifications, contracts, subcontracts and submittals.
  • Strong safety leadership and incident prevention mindset.
  • Ability to coordinate many stakeholders including owners, PM, crews and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the on-site project team to deliver a safe, quality and profitable project on time.
  • Review the project proposal and pertinent documents.
  • Determine means and methods including personnel, materials, equipment and subcontractors.
  • Represent the Company in daily interfaces with project owner.
  • Establish and maintain safety as the highest priority.
  • Manage field staff, superintendents, foremen and assistants.
  • Keep the project manager informed on progress, budget and forecasting.
  • Organize and participate in project coordination meetings.
  • Review and approve subcontractor invoices and vendor payments.
  • Collaborate on scope changes and change orders.
  • Ensure timely timesheets for field personnel.
  • Adhere to all company policies and processes.

Job description

General Job Summary

Plan, organize, and lead the execution of electrical substation projects to meet the Company’s safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the on-site project team in the construction of a safe, quality, and profitable project, completed in a timely manner.
  • Review and understand the project proposal and pertinent documents.
  • Determine the best means and methods, including personnel, material, equipment and subcontractors to meet project objectives.
  • Represent the Company in daily interfaces with project owner.
  • Establish and maintain safety as the highest priority as part of the Company’s management philosophy.
  • Manage project field staff, including assigned support staff, superintendents, project general foreman, and assistants.
  • Ensure that the Company project manager is accurately and fully informed of project status including progress, budget, and forecasting.
  • Organise, conduct and represent the company at project coordination meetings at regular agreed upon intervals.
  • Review and approve subcontractor invoices, vendor payment applications and miscellaneous invoices.
  • Collaborate with Company project manager in the detection of scope change and the development and execution of change orders.
  • Ensure timely and accurate timesheets for all field personnel on site.
  • Enforce and adhere to all Policies and Processes as it relates to this position.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to walk the property and laydown yards.
  • Ability to carry up to 50 pounds.
Requirements
  • 10 + years of relevant construction experience
  • 5 + years of experience managing electrical substation projects
  • Possess working knowledge of all projects plans, specifications, Owner Contract, subcontracts, purchase orders, daily correspondence, drawings, submittals and all other project related documents.
  • Knowledge of all disciplines involved in the construction and commissioning of electrical substations.
  • Ability to coordinate numerous activities among all project stakeholders, including project owner, Company project manager, Company workforce, subcontractor teams, vendors, etc.
  • Self-motivated with skills to motivate others.
  • Strong commitment to safety and leading by example.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
