Job summary

Cinder is seeking a Construction Manager for Life Safety & Electrical Systems to lead onsite electrical quality control and coordinate complex electrical system startups on high-tech projects. You will manage the Electrical Team, review preconstruction through commissioning, and ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence across trades.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee electrical subcontractor and vendor work and ensure schedule alignment.
  • Coordinate mechanical and electrical system startups with stakeholders.
  • Verify documentation, startup readiness, and site safety readiness.
  • Organize training for client personnel on MEP operations and maintenance.
  • Lead startup meetings with managers, design team, subcontractors, utilities and clients.
  • Review submittals and coordinate multiple documents for accuracy.
  • RFI handling and management of contract changes and buyouts.
  • Field survey of control lines and benchmarks; provide onsite technical guidance.
  • Assist in estimating electrical budgets and staffing projects.

Pay Rate: $90k/yr DOE + Incentives

About the Role

As the Life Safety Systems Construction Manager, you will work within the Construction Management department and will report to the Electrical Project Manager. You will work closely with design professionals, clients, subcontractors, and craftspeople to address complex electrical coordination issues. You will manage the Electrical Team and lead their onsite electrical quality control efforts, which will include document review during preconstruction through commissioning and punch list.

What you will be doing:
  • Oversee electrical subcontractor and vendor installation work daily to ensure they are maintaining their installation schedule, support system startup, and commissioning activities.
  • Interface between Area Construction Managers and multiple subcontractors to assist in coordinating mechanical and electrical system startups.
  • Verify all documentation is complete and equipment being prepared for startup is construction complete and can safely be started.
  • Coordinate MEP systems with civil, architectural, and structural elements within the overall project design.
  • Organize and facilitate training of clients' personnel in the operations and maintenance of MEP systems.
  • Run startup meetings involving Area Construction Managers, design team members, multiple subcontractors, local utility agencies and clients to coordinate/drive MEP system start up activities.
  • Review and process project submittal information and coordinate between multiple submittals to ensure the accuracy and functionality of each component of the various MEP systems.
  • Receive and distribute requests for information (RFI) and change documents issued by other team members.
  • Field survey of control lines and benchmarks.
  • Be the technical advisor at the onsite field construction office.
  • Assist in estimating electrical budgets and managing electrical team project staffing.
  • Secure electrical subcontractor and equipment buyout and manage electrical subcontractor contracts and contract modifications.
About You

You are an experienced mechanical construction professional who can manage technically complex semiconductor and high-tech projects while maintaining strong coordination across design, field, and owner teams. You are organized, decisive, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced construction environment. You communicate effectively under pressure, build cooperative relationships with trade and craft personnel, and remain focused on safety, quality, schedule, and project completion.

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience working in and around cleanroom environments.
  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams), and have a general understanding of working within a computer network.
  • Experience with project management software such as Prolog, Procore, E-Builder, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Primavera Project Planner (P6).
  • Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks.
  • Training in design and construction document reading, design specifications, survey theory and techniques.
  • Experience in organizing technical data in a neat and accurate method. Familiar with CSI specification system for construction.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all aspects of low-voltage electrical construction.
  • Highly developed visual observation and interpretation skills.
  • Ability to work well and maintain a cooperative attitude through high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work while frequently interrupted by phone calls and questions on work in progress.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to work closely with variety of trade and craft people in a field work situation. Patience and professionalism are essential.
  • Must be a strong team player with the ability to collaborate with various personnel within and across departments and at all levels of leadership.
  • Work schedule must be flexible to allow extended hours or off-shift work to accommodate changing construction schedule and sequences.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of five (5) years of electrical construction experience required.
  • Specific experience in industrial and/or hi-tech semiconductor manufacturing projects is required
  • Experience working in a live high-tech facility required.
  • LEED Accredited Professional, or the ability to become accredited within eighteen (18) months preferred.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent degree and/or equivalent field work experience required.
  • Education background in materials and methods of construction.
