Job summary

Fielmann USA is seeking a seasoned Construction Project Manager to lead the planning, coordination, oversight and delivery of multiple new-store and remodel projects from preconstruction through closeout. You will act as the primary contact for contractors, inspectors and internal partners, managing schedules, budgets, quality and safety to ensure on-time, within-budget store delivery.

This role requires a Bachelor’s degree, 5+ years’ experience, PMP preferred, and on-site work at Green Bay, WI

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Building Science, Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• 5+ years’ commercial construction management experience.
• PMP or equivalent designation desired.
• Experience managing multiple retail construction projects concurrently.
• Knowledge of codes, safety requirements and contract interpretation.
• Ability to read drawings and contracts; strong communication.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Lead the planning, coordination, oversight, and delivery of multiple retail new-store and remodel construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. Serve as the primary Fielmann USA construction contact for contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, municipalities, government inspectors, architects, engineers, and internal partners. Manage project schedule, cost, quality, safety, documentation, and regulatory compliance; resolve issues promptly; and provide clear progress and budget updates to senior leadership to support on-time, cost-effective store delivery.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

PROJECT DELIVERY & SITE MANAGEMENT

• Direct and oversee multiple new-store and remodel construction projects from start to finish
• Attend coordination and progress meetings and conduct regular site visits, including bid walks, preconstruction walks, in-progress site visits, punch walks and construction closeout
• Serve as the primary company construction contact at active worksites, coordinating contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and government inspectors
• Maintain active daily engagement, monitor project progress, and respond to work delays, emergencies, and other project issues
• Proactively identify, mitigate, and track recurring construction issues

PRECONSTRUCTION, BIDDING & CONTRACTOR MANAGEMENT

• Prepare and maintain Statement of Work (SOW), preconstruction documents, cost estimates, budgets, and work timetables
• Select general contractors and subcontractors; negotiate contractors with external vendors and coordinate contractor activities
• Monitor contract obligations and build productive relationships with reliable contractors and vendors
• Interpret and explain contracts, construction documents, and technical information to internal and external partners

COST, SCHEDULE & PROJECT CONTROLS

• Develop and maintain project cost and change controls, project budgets and accounting records
• Coordinate and monitor schedule updates, invoices, and submittals
• Manage project performance to support delivery on time and within budget and address material schedule or cost issues as they arise
• Report project progress and budget matters to senior leadership on a regular basis

PERMITTING, COMPLIANCE & SITE CONDITIONS

• Work with municipalities to support timely approvals for permits, Certificate of Occupancy, and any other code-related requirements and approvals. Ensure that the project is constructed and documented in accordance with contract documents, applicable codes, and good engineering practices
• Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues requiring attention
• Address environmental or local community issues that arise during construction

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COORDINATION & CLOSEOUT

• Collaborate with Store Planning, architects, engineers, and other construction specialists throughout the project delivery
• Coordinate punch and construction closeout activities and ensure required project documentation is completed

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Building Science, Engineering, Construction Management or related field required
• 5+ years’ commercial construction management experience. Commercial Retail experience a plus
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or an equivalent designation desired
• Demonstrated leadership in managing construction of multiple new or remodeled retail outlets scheduled at the same time
• Strong knowledge of construction methods and technologies and ability to interpret technical drawings and contracts
• Experience with store design and construction
• Working knowledge of federal, state and local rules, regulations, building codes and safety requirements applicable to commercial construction
• Experience with store design and construction
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and make timely, well-reasoned decisions
• Exceptional analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
• Strong planning and organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to act decisively and facilitate and implement ideas and solutions
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal and external teams
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of programs
