Job description

Energy Project Solutions (EPS) is an energy consulting firm that helps partners deliver efficient, high-value projects through localized expertise and real-world insight. With more than 500 years of collective experience, our team leads complex energy developments from inception through construction, bringing deep knowledge across engineering, real estate, business development, and finance while leveraging strong relationships with developers, owners, financial institutions, and property owners nationwide.

The Construction Manager is primarily responsible for leading field construction activities for data center development projects, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract documents, quality standards, and project schedules. This role provides leadership and oversight throughout all phases of construction, with a strong emphasis on tenant improvement (TI), adaptive reuse, and mission‑critical facility construction. The Construction Manager works closely with the Owner, General Contractor, subcontractors, architects, engineers, consultants, and vendors to coordinate daily field operations and ensure successful project execution.

The following responsibilities and duties are intended to describe categories of potential workflows, but it should not be assumed to be exhaustive as our value to our clients is in our ability to ebb and flow with the project needs.

Stakeholder Relations
  • Foster collaborative relationships with Owners, General Contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, consultants, commissioning teams, and other project stakeholders.
  • Facilitate effective communication between all project participants to proactively resolve issues and maintain alignment on project objectives.
  • Participate in owner, contractor, and coordination meetings to review project progress, schedule, quality, safety, and risk mitigation strategies.
Project Oversight
  • Provide day‑to‑day oversight of field construction activities from pre‑construction through project closeout.
  • Manage tenant improvement (TI), renovation, and adaptive reuse projects involving the conversion of existing facilities into mission‑critical data centers.
  • Oversee structural modifications, architectural build‑outs, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), HVAC, fire protection, and specialty systems installation.
  • Coordinate installation of critical infrastructure including electrical distribution systems, backup power systems, cooling systems, containment solutions, and supporting building systems.
  • Review contractor work plans, construction schedules, logistics plans, means and methods, and manpower allocations.
  • Participate in pull planning and short‑term look‑ahead scheduling meetings to ensure efficient sequencing of work.
  • Monitor contractor productivity, schedule performance, and resource utilization while identifying and mitigating potential delays.
  • Ensure construction activities comply with contract requirements, project specifications, building codes, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Document Management
  • Manage project documentation including drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, transmittals, change orders, permits, inspection reports, and meeting minutes.
  • Review design revisions and coordinate implementation with contractors and design consultants.
  • Maintain accurate field documentation to support schedule updates, issue resolution, and change management.
  • Utilize construction management software to track project documentation, progress, and reporting.
Quality Assurance and Testing
  • Verify construction activities are performed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate quality inspections, factory acceptance testing (where applicable), field testing, and third‑party inspections.
  • Monitor contractor quality control programs and ensure deficiencies are corrected in a timely manner.
  • Conduct routine field inspections to verify workmanship and installation quality across architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical scopes.
  • Support equipment installation verification, pre‑functional inspections, and system readiness for commissioning.
Safety and Commissioning
  • Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and project‑specific safety requirements.
  • Participate in safety meetings, site walks, and incident investigations while supporting continuous safety improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate closely with commissioning teams during equipment startup, integrated systems testing, owner demonstrations, and facility turnover.
  • Support substantial completion, punch list management, owner training, and final project acceptance.
Project Support
  • Support the Project Manager in managing project scope, schedule, quality, budget, and risk.
  • Prepare daily field reports documenting construction progress, manpower, inspections, project milestones, and field observations.
  • Verify contractor progress for payment applications and schedule reporting. Coordinate resolution of constructability issues, field conflicts, and design clarifications.
  • Manage punch list development, completion tracking, turnover documentation, and project closeout activities.
  • Assist in forecasting project milestones and maintaining overall project execution plans.
Who You Are
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (Preferred).
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience managing commercial, industrial, mission‑critical, or large‑scale construction projects.
  • Experience managing tenant improvement (TI), renovation, adaptive reuse, or interior fit‑out projects is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with data centers, mission‑critical facilities, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, or other technically complex building projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), fire protection, and critical building systems.
  • Working knowledge of commissioning, integrated systems testing, turnover, and facility startup processes.
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes, OSHA regulations, quality management systems, and construction best practices.
  • Willingness to travel up to 100% based on project assignments.

  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Self‑motivated leader capable of managing multiple priorities in fast‑paced, mission‑critical construction environments while building strong client and contractor relationships.
