Job summary

KBA, Inc. is hiring a Construction Manager/Resident Engineer in the Seattle area. You will oversee day-to-day construction management activities and serve as the primary liaison to contractors and the client for SDOT projects and related City initiatives.

The role requires leading project teams, coordinating RFIs and submittals, monitoring budgets and schedules, and maintaining rigorous documentation. Strong leadership and public project experience are essential.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Geology or equivalent strongly desired.
  • PE or CCM certification is preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience on public capital projects.
  • Experience on large multi-million dollar projects and coordination with agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day construction management activities and act as primary representative to contractors and client.
  • Coordinate RFIs, submittal responses, and progress payments.
  • Monitor project budget and schedule; ensure compliance with standards.
  • Manage inspector reports, meeting notes, and project documentation.
  • Lead and mentor project staff; clarify roles and responsibilities.

What you will be doing:

The Construction Manager/Resident Engineer oversees day-to-day construction management activities and serves as the primary representative to construction contractors and the client.

The person in this role must be able to work in the Seattle Metropolitan area able to support work within the City of Seattle and is primarily intended to perform work for SDOT projects, with additional support for City Light and SPU projects as needed and may manage multiple projects concurrently

Construction Project Management responsibility background

  • Coordinate RFIs, submittal responses, and progress payments.
  • Monitor project budget and schedule.
  • Familiar with AASHTO, FHWA, other applicable standards for work being performed, and other governing agencies’ construction administration, engineering, environmental methods, standards, and policies.
  • Bridge and roadwork experience preferred.
Scheduling
  • Criticalpathknowledgeatintermediatelevel preferred.
Project Documentation
  • Experience managing contracts with Federal Aid Funding documentation and requirements preferred.
  • Manage inspector’s daily reports (IDRs) documenting quantities and quality of contractor performance.
  • Manageadministrativedocumentationofmeetingnotesand correspondence.
  • Proficientinmaterialsmanagement,tracking,and documentation.

Requirements
Education/Experience : B.S.inCivilEngineering,Construction Management, Geology, or equivalent stronglydesired.
Preferred Experience :
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) or Certified Construction Management (CCM) Certificationispreferred .
  • Has worked on a minimum of one large project of $20 million or more and a minimum of two projects valued between $10 million and $20 million.
  • Has worked for a minimum of 8 years on public capital projects as a public agency owner, consultant, contractor, or equivalent.
