Job summary

Ulteig seeks a Construction Manager to oversee field activities on bridges, dams, highways, and water projects in collaboration with engineers and design teams.

The role requires on‑site resolution of issues, adherence to contract documents, and extensive travel to work sites. Strong communication, safety, and budgeting skills are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
  • 6+ years of field experience; 10–15 years preferred.
  • Professional Engineering license preferred; relevant certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project staff and coordinate with project engineers, construction engineers, and superintendents.
  • Ensure safety policy adherence, conduct safety walks, and track safety compliance.
  • Support QA/QC programs; report and resolve non‑conformance issues.
  • Review environmental and procurement plans; monitor budgets and productivity.
  • Execute construction work plans, lay out sites, and track RFIs.
  • Maintain as‑built drawings and resolve punch list items.
  • Prepare task completion reports and basic take‑offs.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers.

Overview

The Construction Manager will observe, monitor, and document the timely and safe execution of site, structural, and electrical work performed by construction crews on bridges, dams, highways, and other transportation or water construction projects. The role requires field‑based coordination with engineering and design teams, on‑site resolution of construction issues, and ensuring compliance with contract documents.

What You’ll Do
  • Assist project staff and work closely with project engineers, construction engineers, and superintendents.
  • Ensure adherence to safety policies, perform and document job safety walks, and track safety compliance.
  • Support the client’s quality control and quality assurance programs; report, track, and resolve non‑conformance issues.
  • Review and adhere to environmental and procurement plans, and monitor project budgets and productivity.
  • Execute construction work plans, lay out and measure field sites, and track RFIs.
  • Maintain and update “as‑built” drawings and resolve punch list items.
  • Prepare task completion reports and basic take‑offs.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers.
What We Expect From You
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a minimum of 6 years of comparable field experience.
  • 10‑15 years of related field experience preferred.
  • Experience working with DOT and/or municipalities.
  • Professional Engineering license preferred.
  • Relevant certifications (Traffic Control Supervisor, Transportation Erosion Control Supervisor, Flagger, ACI, or related) preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications/manuals, contracts, and project schedules.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Project/Primavera, Procore, and Bluebeam.
  • Strong interpersonal, time‑management, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel 80% of the time to work sites, including nights, weekends, and inclement weather.
  • Strong math skills and willingness to support design efforts as needed.
  • Demonstrated openness to innovation and the application of evolving technology and AI tools.
  • Authorization to work permanently in the U.S.
