We are currently supporting the delivery of a major Data Center development in Lubbock, Texas and are looking to appoint an experienced Construction Manager on a long-term contract basis.This is a hands-on, site-focused construction position for someone who can operate effectively across both field construction and project management.We are not looking for a Project Manager who spends the majority of their time behind a desk managing reports and schedules.The successful candidate needs to be a genuine construction professional who is comfortable walking the site, engaging directly with the General Contractor and subcontractors, understanding what is physically happening in the field and driving construction forward.Alongside this strong field presence, you'll be responsible for project coordination, contractor management, scheduling and project controls to ensure the wider construction programme remains on track.
Maintain a strong day-to-day presence on the construction site.Split time effectively between field assignments and office/project coordination responsibilities.Oversee construction activities and ensure work is progressing in accordance with the overall project programme.Manage and coordinate the General Contractor and subcontractors.Walk the site regularly to understand construction progress, constraints and emerging issues.Engage directly with contractors, trades, supervisors and project stakeholders.Monitor contractor performance and drive accountability against agreed deliverables.Coordinate construction activity across multiple packages and disciplines.Ensure effective coordination between CSA, Mechanical, Electrical, Controls and other project scopes.Identify construction constraints, interface issues and potential programme delays.Work with contractors and the wider project team to develop and implement solutions to field issues.Understand and manage construction sequencing across the project.Monitor construction schedules, milestones and critical activities.Work closely with project controls teams to understand programme performance and upcoming priorities.Support schedule reviews, look-ahead planning and progress meetings.Participate in contractor meetings, coordination meetings and construction progress reviews.Review drawings, specifications, RFIs and relevant construction documentation where required.Identify constructability issues and support their resolution.Ensure communication between field teams, contractors and project management remains clear and effective.Track construction progress and provide clear updates to project leadership.Support testing, commissioning, turnover and project closeout activities as the project progresses.Drive a proactive, solutions-focused approach to construction delivery.
ForThe key requirement is someone who can operate comfortably in both the field and the project management environment.
You should be someone who understands construction from the ground up and is comfortable getting out onto site, speaking with the trades and contractors and understanding exactly where the project stands.At the same time, you'll need to understand the wider programme and be capable of managing the coordination, scheduling and project controls surrounding the physical constructtion.
Strong construction management background on large-scale, technically complex projects.Proven experience working in a field-based Construction Manager or similar construction leadership position.Experience managing General Contractors and subcontractors.Strong understanding of construction means, methods, sequencing and coordination.Experience managing multiple construction packages and interfaces.Good understanding of construction project controls.Strong understanding of construction scheduling and programme management.Experience monitoring contractor progress against schedules and key milestones.Ability to identify construction risks, constraints and delays before they impact the wider programme.Comfortable working directly with trades, contractors, supervisors and project leadership.Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications and technical documentation.Strong communication, leadership and contractor-management skills.Experience across Data Centers, Mission Critical, Industrial, Power or Renewable Energy construction would be highly desirable.Previous Data Center construction experience is preferred but is not essential where candidates have strong experience delivering other major complex construction projects.Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline is preferred; however, strong relevant construction experience will also be considered.
