Job summary

Hill International Inc. seeks a Construction Manager in Houston, TX to support field and office construction engineering activities on active transit projects.

You will assist the Project Manager, prepare CM plans, manage contracts, and monitor budgets and schedules. Ideal candidates have a minimum 10 years of transit/rail experience, asphalt/mill-and-fill expertise, and strong leadership and communication skills to supervise CM and inspection staff while ensuring safety and regulatory

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, electrical or transportation engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of construction experience on active transit/rail projects.
  • Experience managing CM and inspection staff.
  • Asphalt experience, especially mill and fill.
  • Familiar with planning and managing work on active rail lines and living trains.
  • Knowledgeable with MS Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication and supervisory skills.
  • Lead role in safety matters.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager in all field and office construction engineering work.

  • Manage and administer construction contracts.
  • Coordinate preconstruction planning activities and CM/inspections staff.
  • Review and comment on Contractor schedules; provide design support during construction.
  • Ensure compliance with FTA requirements and safety oversight.
  • Process change orders and respond to RFIs.
  • Prepare monthly consultant invoices and conduct progress meetings.
  • Coordinate with sub-consultants and maintain contact with the Construction PM.

Hill International is seeking a Construction Manager in Houston, Texas
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Project Manager in all aspects of required field and office construction engineering work
  • Prepare PM/CM plans to include change management plan invoicing procedures budget and schedule monitoring processes quality assurance plan safety oversight and project specific procedures including communication/coordination plans for the project
  • Manage and administer construction contracts
  • Manage preconstruction planning activities
  • Manage CM and inspection staff
  • Review and comment on the Contractor's construction schedule(s).
  • Provide design-support-during construction
  • Ensure compliance and enforcement of FTA requirements
  • Change order processing
  • RFI (request for information) response
  • Prepare monthly consultant invoices
  • Conduct construction progress meetings
  • Conduct project team meetings
  • Coordinate agreements with and work of sub-consultants and services
  • Maintain on-going contact with the Construction Project Manager
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in the field of civil, electrical or transportation engineering
  • Minimum 10 years of construction experience working on active transit and rail projects
  • Experience managing CM and inspection staff
  • Asphalt experience, especially any mill and fill
  • Must be knowledgeable and experienced planning and managing work being performed on an active railway, familiar with FTA operating rules.
  • Previous work experience on an active rail line working around live trains and within short work windows
  • Must be knowledgeable with Microsoft Office Suite Word and Excel software programs
  • Must be knowledgeable and experienced with the principles of effective communication and supervision
  • Must have proven experience in a lead worker's roll in safety matters
  • Must be self-motivated and have strong interpersonal skills
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
