Job summary

Strata Civil is seeking a Construction Manager with Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) experience to support the Project Manager in planning, execution, and financial outcomes of assigned projects.

The role emphasizes coordinating contractual requirements, design drawings, and project specifications while ensuring safety and timely delivery in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in W/WWTP construction or equivalent.

  • Plan, direct, coordinate, and motivate project team to achieve goals and resolve issues.
  • Monitor daily budget goals and labor cost analysis; adjust to meet budget guidelines.
  • Participate in plan development, procurement, and execution for project success.

Job description

The Construction Manager W/WWTP is responsible for assisting their assigned Project Manager in the planning, management, direction, project completion, client satisfaction, and financial outcome of assigned construction projects. The ideal candidate will be required to assist their assigned Project Manager in coordinating all contractual requirements, design drawings, and project specifications and ensure all other Project Management objectives are achieved in a timely and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager in directing and coordinating staff for management of contracted projects, ensuring proper staffing while maintaining profitability.
  • Communicate with crews and field managers to ensure all projects are administered and completed within guidelines, budgets, and work hours.
  • Develop an understanding of the prime contract, subcontracts, purchase order agreements, and allowance items, as well as contract drawings and specifications. Administer elements of the processes involved in budgeting and controlling costs so that the project can be completed within the approved budget. Demonstrate business acumen within the area of responsibility.
  • Ensure safety on every project by enforcing safety training and meetings, as well as consistently monitoring job sites for potential safety hazards.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients and potential clients and provide assistance to clients with potential and existing problems.
  • Help plan, direct, coordinate, and motivate employees to achieve goals and objectives and effectively resolve complaints and issues.
  • May participate in concrete form design and related equipment selection and participate in takeoffs for concrete, asphalt concrete, earthwork, and utilities as required.
  • Monitor daily budget goals and weekly labor cost analysis for each project and make appropriate changes to meet budget and cost guidelines.
  • Plan, acquire, develop, and supervise members of the project team to ensure relentless execution of the project.
  • 10+ years of experience, including a minimum of $2M in project site experience. This experience must be in W/WWTP construction.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the components of the Project Management Plan (PMP), including the project scope management plan, procurement plan, environmental plan, time management plan, financial plan, quality management and safety plans, and risk management plan to ensure successful project execution. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the change management process.
  • Four-year construction-related degree or equivalent technical training and related experience, plus a minimum of 6+ years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs and project scheduling software.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and activities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with and manage cross-functional teams.
  • Superior communication and organizational development skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required, including but not limited to steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend on an occasional basis.
  • May use telephone, computer systems, email, or other electronic devices to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Occasionally will climb stairs, ladders, etc.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • Will interact with people frequently during a shift/workday.
  • Will lift, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/workday.
  • Will work various shifts, including swing, night, and weekends.
