Job summary

CDM Smith Inc. seeks a senior leader to advance the Construction Management practice, including resident engineering and inspection, owner’s advisor services, and pre-construction activities. Job description

Job Description
  • Advance the CDM Smith brand to be recognized as a premier provider of Construction Management services including resident engineering and inspection, owner’s advisor services, pre‑construction services, risk management, start‑up and commissioning.
  • Work with Discipline Leaders to advance the use of construction related technologies and software.
  • Advance the practice through technical ingenuity, innovation, and increasing top‑line sales.
  • Collaborate with CDM Smith’s digital service providers, Trinnex, and Digital Engineering Services (DES) to accelerate the practice’s adoption and use of digital tools.
  • Drive year over year practice sales growth.
  • Position the firm technically to stay ahead of emerging marketplace challenges.
  • Collaborate with client service units to pre‑position for major pursuits by identifying and showcasing technical differentiators.
  • Partner with sales and technical leadership to build strong client relationships across markets.
  • Lead technical luminescence activities, including conference presentations, technical papers, and webinars.
  • Recruit and retain top strategic technical talent.
  • Develop, mentor, and guide technical specialists and discipline leaders while driving innovative research and development initiatives.
  • Work with Discipline Leaders to identify technical expertise and bench strength needs to support growth initiatives.
  • Foster continuous improvement, a culture of quality, accountability, and core values.
  • Pursue and apply innovative technologies that give a competitive edge.
  • Leverage the advantages of a matrix organization to grow the firm while maintaining existing client relationships.
  • Oversee and direct loss prevention and risk management strategies within the practice.
  • Collaborate with the Program Management Practice Leader to identify joint growth and innovation opportunities.
Qualifications
  • 12+ years of relevant experience.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven leadership and visionary abilities.
  • Recognized profile within the Construction Management practice as evidenced by presentations, committee participation, and recognition as a subject matter expert on projects such as constructability reviews, value engineering studies, and dispute resolution boards.

  • Self‑directed, motivated, mission‑driven with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to represent the firm at industry groups and media nationally and internationally.
  • Developer and implementer of best practices in the delivery of services.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
