Job summary

AECOM Hunt seeks a Construction Intern for our Chicago-based Lake County Convention Center project. The role starts in Summer 2027 and offers broad exposure to field and office activities within a major infrastructure project.

Responsibilities include supporting project managers and field teams, reviewing construction documents, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering and/or similar discipline.
• Recent graduates may apply if they are continuing with a master’s degree in the same or similar field.

Responsibilities

• Perform assignments designed to develop professional construction management knowledge under guidance.
• Support project managers, superintendents, engineers, and project teams with day-to-day field activities.
• Assist with planning and coordination of subcontractor activities within an assigned area.
• Help monitor construction activities for conformance with plans, specs, schedules, and safety requirements.
• Review project documentation including drawings, specs, RFIs, submittals, logs and daily reports.
• Utilize construction management systems and project technology for documentation and tracking.
• Assist with monitoring schedules, manpower, materials, and equipment planning.
• Support coordination between field management, project management, estimating, procurement, and stakeholders.
• Participate in site meetings, inspections, and other project activities as appropriate.
• Assist with quality control and ensure work complies with project requirements.
