Job summary

TRC is seeking motivated Civil Engineering Interns for Summer 2027 in our Austin, TX office. This paid full-time internship runs June through August 2027 and offers hands-on experience on projects under supervision of PMs and Team Leaders.

You will work with engineers and technicians, learn Microstation, AutoCAD, Civil-3D, and related tools, and develop skills for a future civil engineering career. Reading plans, site layout and grading tasks, and contractor collaboration will be part of daily

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, CAD, or related field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to visualize in 3-D.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Develop details and calculations in Microstation; assist with field inspections.
• Support civil design tasks including drafting and proposal prep.
• Assist site layout, grading, utility design, and cost estimates.
• Prepare civil construction drawings under supervision.
• Read and interpret project plans and coordinate with contractors.

Overview

TRC is seeking highly motivated and diverse Civil Engineering Interns for our Summer 2027 intern program out of our Austin, TX/ Baton Rouge, LA Office. This is a paid full-time position. Anticipated duration will be from June through August 2027 (flexible).

This position has the potential to transition into a Full-Time role upon graduation. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders and partner with engineers, scientists, and technologists.

Responsibilities

• Working in Microstation in developing details, Structural and Roadway calculations, possible field inspections.
• Support civil engineer design tasks including sheet setup, drafting, and proposal development.
• Support site layout and grading, utility design, cost estimates, bridge and highway design.
• Assist in the preparation of civil construction drawings.
• Use AUTOCAD, Civil-3D, HydroCAD, Microstation, PondPack, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office products.
• Work will be in the field working with a construction inspector.
• Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
• Communicate with contractors.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Pursuing Bachelor or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, CAD, or related field.
• Has excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Possesses solid technical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to visualize in 3-D.
• Self-motivated, detail orientated person.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Honest, fun, hard-working and ready to learn and grow.

Compensation

In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation

Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.

Salary Range

USD $20.00 - USD $28.00 /Hr.
