Acadian Contractors, Inc. is seeking a Construction Laborer to support crews on building and infrastructure projects. Travel may be required; you will perform manual labor, follow directions, and maintain strong work ethic and professional conduct.

You will interpret work orders, use tools safely, handle materials, and assist with crane operations and rigging under supervision. Applicants should be ready for heavy physical work in a project-based setting.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate knowledge of procedures for lifts near power lines.
• Ability to prepare site for crane operations and verify loads.
• Ability to obtain correct load weight and placement information prior to lifts.
• Ability to determine hoist line parts required for lifts.
• Ability to assemble, set up, and rig a crane properly.
• Ability to move cranes safely between locations.
• Knowledge of shutting down and securing cranes when unattended.
• Ability to read sling and shackle charts.
• Ability to inspect all lifting equipment (slings, cables, shackles, chains, pins, safety catches).
• Knowledge of hand rigging procedures.

Responsibilities

• Accurately interpret information from work orders and blueprints.
• Identify and safely use hand and power tools.
• Recognize materials and perform proper material handling techniques.
• Select and safely operate equipment such as manlifts, forklifts, and company trucks.
• Demonstrate safe rigging practices and crane signals.
• Select appropriate rigging gear according to load weights and schedules.
• Attach loads to rigging for moving or suspension.
• Maneuver loads using multi-point suspension techniques.
• Control heavy equipment movement through confined spaces.
• Test rigging for safety and reliability.
• Direct workers engaged in hoisting to ensure safety.
• Perform heavy physical labor.
