Job summary

Brayman Construction is seeking a Shop / Yard Laborer in Saxonburg, PA to join our team. This full-time role runs Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm and supports material handling, shop, warehouse, and yard operations.

You will assist with shipments, loading/unloading, inventory, maintenance, and local deliveries. Safety, reliability, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Move, store, and prepare raw materials and supplies across the facility.
  • Receive shipments, verify materials, stage inventory, and prepare outgoing orders.
  • Safely load/unload trucks using forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and dispose of scrap materials.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and report maintenance concerns.
  • Organize warehouse inventory and storage of materials, tools, parts.
  • Assist production with preparing materials for coating and finishing operations.
  • Operate company vehicles for local deliveries; occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures.

Job description

Brayman Construction is currently searching for a Shop / Yard laborer to add to our team in Saxonburg, PA.

The laborer role is a full-time position, Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm.

The Laborer is responsible for providing general operational support across the shop, warehouse, and yard. This position assists with material handling, facility upkeep, equipment maintenance, production support, and transportation activities to ensure safe and efficient daily operations.

Primary Responsibilities of Shop / Yard Laborer:
  • Assist with the movement, storage, and preparation of raw materials, finished products, and supplies throughout the facility.
  • Receive incoming shipments, verify materials, stage inventory, and prepare outgoing orders for delivery or shipment.
  • Safely load and unload trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other approved equipment when authorized.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by sweeping floors, pressure washing, painting, removing debris, and disposing of scrap materials.
  • Support preventive maintenance activities by inspecting equipment, assisting with minor repairs, and reporting maintenance concerns.
  • Organize warehouse inventory and maintain proper storage of materials, tools, parts, and supplies.
  • Assist production personnel by preparing materials through sanding, abrasive blasting, masking, cleaning, and supporting coating and finishing operations.
  • Operate company vehicles to complete local deliveries and material pickups as assigned. Overnight travel may be required approximately one time per month.
  • Follow all established quality, safety, and operational procedures while completing assigned work.
  • Perform additional labor, warehouse, or facility-related duties as assigned to support business operations.
Minimum Qualifications of Shop / Yard Laborer:
  • Ability to safely perform physically demanding work for extended periods, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing, and repetitive movement.
  • Ability to routinely lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety with the ability to consistently follow company policies and procedures.
  • Dependable work ethic with strong attention to detail and the ability to complete repetitive tasks accurately.
  • Willingness to learn new skills, equipment, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in changing weather and environmental conditions.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, maintain an acceptable driving record, and be at least 21 years of age to operate company vehicles for interstate, non-CDL travel.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, construction, warehouse operations, industrial environments, maintenance, or general labor is preferred but not required.

Safety Sensitive Position:

This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects, and in a heavy manufacturing facility with various safety hazards which are potentially life‑threatening to the employee. This position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position may also entail project site work at night and on weekends on an as needed basis. This position will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.
