Job summary

Core & Main is seeking a construction laborer to support the specialized building of segmental retaining wall systems. Duties include unloading materials, placing and aligning blocks, operating a skid-steer or forklift, and ensuring safety on an outdoor site.

The role requires reliability, physical stamina to lift up to 50 lbs, and ability to work in varying outdoor conditions. Experience with masonry materials and basic math helps, and teamwork is essential for coordinating with crew members.

Qualifications

• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older.
• HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred.
• Specialized skills training/certification may be required.
• Generally, 2 - 5 years of experience in area of responsibility.
• Outdoor environment with regular exposure to temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes.

Responsibilities

• Unload materials on site for retaining wall construction.
• Place, rake, and shovel stone to build a level footer for segmental block installation.
• Hook chains, stack, straighten, level, and shim blocks to build a wall according to construction documents.
• Identify incorrect or short-shipped items and notify supervisor.
• Operate skid-steer or forklift to transport and place materials as directed by supervisor.
• Place materials such as block, goe-grid, fabric, drainage pipe, etc., for the wall system.
• Maintain awareness of products used on the project and how to use them.
• Keep the work area clean and safe; follow company safety policies.

Visit coreandmain.com to learn more.Job SummaryResponsible for specialized construction of segmental retaining wall systems.Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key AccountabilitiesUnloads materials on site that are to be used in the construction of retaining walls.Placing, raking, and shoveling stone to build a level footer for placing segmental block.Hooking chains, stacking, straightening, leveling, and shimming block to build a wall level wall consistent with the construction documents.Identify incorrect/short shipped items and immediately notify supervisor.Operate skid-steer or forklift to transport and place materials where designated by supervisor.Place all materials necessary during construction of the retaining wall system such as block, goe-grid, fabric, drainage pipe, etc.Maintain an understanding of all the products that are used on a retaining wall project, and how to use them.Maintains condition of work area (i.e. free of trash, product in correct location, etc.). Follows company safety policies and procedures and encourages other associates to do the same.Confirm payroll hours with direct supervisor before the end of each payroll period to confirm accuracy.Perform basic equipment maintenance such as changing oil, greasing fittings, changing filters, changing tracks, etc.Minimum QualificationsMust be a minimum of 18 years of age or olderMust pass pre-employment assessment(s) if applicableEducation And ExperienceHS Diploma or GED strongly preferred.Specialized skills training/certification may be required.Generally, 2 - 5 years of experience in area of responsibility.Work EnvironmentAbility to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. in a physical environment.
