Job summary

Hoar is seeking a student intern to gain hands-on experience in construction. The role involves understanding construction processes, takeoff/estimation, submittals, transmittals, and site setup with permitting support.

Strong communication and computer skills are required, and a driver’s license is preferred. Eligible candidates are enrolled full-time in a related engineering or building science program, have a 2.5+ GPA, and can commit to 40 hours per week during the spring semester.

• Current full-time student pursuing a related degree in construction
• Maintains a 2.5+ GPA
• Able to work 40 hours per week during spring semester
• Completed college freshman year
• Wants a career in construction after graduation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Gaining an understanding of the construction process
• Participating in quantity takeoff/quantity estimating
• Working with the submittal process: maintaining logs, reviewing and approving shop drawings and submittals
• Preparing transmittals for distribution for project documentation
• Assisting in jobsite setup, permitting, and closeout
• General computer skills including spreadsheets, communication, and taking on responsibility
