Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Construction Inspector to oversee field inspections on water infrastructure projects. You will act as the field representative for the Construction Manager, coordinate with owners, and document daily activities with photos and detailed reports.

You will monitor contractor compliance, update as-built records, attend progress meetings, and help develop QA/QC documents. Strong attention to detail and communication are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

• Provide single-point field inspection of the construction contractor’s work representing the Construction Manager in the field on water infrastructure projects.
• Act as point of contact to Owner in the field, and represent Stantec in positive light to clients.
• Monitor, inspect and document the construction contractor’s work and prepare a comprehensive written Daily Report with observations, measurements and photos.
• Inspect and verify contractor compliance as detailed in the procedural manual(s) and the Construction and Materials Specifications.
• Communicate with construction contractors regarding conformance or non-conformance to standards, plans, specifications and codes.
• Review, analyze and document construction issues potentially impacting scope, time or cost, possibly changing the contract.
• Review and maintain master as-built and record drawing information.
• Attend regular Progress Meetings with Contractor and review progress to schedule.
• Assist with developing project-specific quality control and quality assurance documents and standards.
• Plan and coordinate field testing and inspections in accordance with the Contract Documents.
• Document compliance and non-compliance with established QA/QC procedures.
• Review test reports for turnover documentation to Owner.
• Prepare written reports documenting QA/QC inspections, non-compliance notices, and corrective actions.
• Review the monthly progress pay estimate submitted by the contractor to verify payments for materials, percent complete and earned value.
• Prepare and monitor a project punch list for deficient or uncompleted work.
• Perform payroll/wage interviews of construction contractors when required by project funding requirements.
• Follow Stantec policies and procedures applicable to work being performed.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Provide single-point field inspection of the construction contractor’s work representing the Construction Manager in the field on water infrastructure projects.
• Act as point of contact to Owner in the field, and represent Stantec in positive light to clients.
• On a daily basis, monitor, inspect and document the construction contractor’s work and prepare a comprehensive written Daily Report that includes such observation and description of all work activities, measurement of installed material quantities, an accounting of labor and equipment resources utilized, a statement of general compliance or non-compliance with the work, and supporting video and photographs of the work in progress.
• Inspect and verify contractor compliance as detailed in the applicable procedural manual(s) and the Construction and Materials Specifications.
• Communicate directly, both verbally and written, with construction contractors regarding conformance or non-conformance to standards, plans, specifications and codes.
• Review, analyze and document any construction issues potentially resulting in a scope, time or cost impact to the work of the Contractor which may result in a change to the contract.
