The candidate must be located in or willing to relocate to Puerto Rico for the duration of the project, and possess NICET II or higher certification along with an EIT and an engineering technology degree. The role involves inspecting traffic control, environmental controls, and construction methods to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and quality control procedures.

Qualifications

  • NICET Level II or higher certification or equivalent state certificate.
  • EIT Certification.
  • Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology.
  • Minimum of 4 years of increasingly responsible construction engineering experience.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect highway construction work to ensure compliance with standards and project specs.
  • Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, and materials.
  • Review contractor daily reports and QC procedures for conformance.
  • Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to contract.
  • May perform sampling and in‑place testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt.
  • Work on highway projects including reclamation, drainage, guardrails, bridges, and markings.

M&J is seeking a Construction Inspector who is familiar with standard construction policies, methods, materials, and equipment. This position typically inspects construction work to ensure compliance with building standards and project specifications.

This position is for a project located in Puerto Rico. Interested candidates will need to be located or be willing to relocate to Puerto Rico for the duration of the project.

Responsibilities
  • The Inspector shall function as a construction inspector and technician. This role is considered part of the PE’s staff and receives assignments, guidance, and direction from the PE.
  • The Inspector performs inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials, and all issues concerning the construction of the project.
  • Determines the acceptability of the day‑to‑day work performed by the contractor.
  • The Inspector will review and recommend accepting or rejecting daily reports submitted by the contractor, performs inspection of the contractor’s quality control procedures and material testing and verifies that procedures are in conformance with the approved Quality Control Plan and established procedures.
  • The Inspector must also be able to review material testing procedures and results for conformance to the contract and measures quantities of materials placed.
  • This role may be required to perform sampling and/or in‑place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt concrete pavement.
  • There should be experience working on highway construction projects that include full depth reclamation construction, replacing and repairing drainage structures, guardrails installation, concrete work, bridge repairs, traffic sign installation and pavement markings, among others.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
