Job summary

City of Plano is seeking a Construction Inspector to perform on-site inspections of streets, water mains, sewers, and city infrastructure, ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance on major projects. You will work with contractors and internal teams to resolve issues and maintain thorough project records.

There are two levels: Construction Inspector with an hourly range of 26.47–33.09, and Senior Construction Inspector with 29.18–36.48.

Responsibilities

• Be the boots on the ground, conducting on-site inspections of construction projects, water mains, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, and the city-maintained infrastructure, including streets, alleys, and drainage channels.
• Don your detective hat as you investigate and respond to complaints related to easements, streets, alleys, rights-of-way, and construction activities. Collaborate with contractors and other departments to coordinate project activities.
• Dive into the community by inspecting privately maintained sites, meeting with Homeowner's Associations, and engaging with residents on easement issues. Your expertise will help resolve complaints and identify maintenance responsibilities.
• Keep accurate asset records and a daily log of assigned projects, ensuring nothing goes unnoticed.
• Be the City's hero by evaluating street, alley, and sidewalk conditions and determining the work needed in specific areas. You'll inspect sanitary sewers and participate in the rehabilitation of sewer mains, manholes and service laterals.

Contract: Full-Time, Regular

Hours: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Rate And Compensation

The successful candidate may be offered a position in either the Construction Inspector or Senior Construction Inspector classification.

The target hourly range for the Construction Inspector is $26.47 - $33.09.

The target hourly range for the Senior Construction Inspector is $29.18 - $36.48.

Hours for this position are 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
