Job summary

Pennoni Associates is seeking candidates with experience as a Special Inspector to perform daily special inspections and materials testing on projects across New Jersey. The role requires 1 to 3 years of related experience and NJDCA certification in one or more related areas.

The position will involve field inspections at multiple sites in South and Northern NJ, with duties including monitoring compliance, performing testing on concrete, masonry, and steel, and coordinating with engineers,

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of related field experience as a Special Inspector or equivalent.
• NJDCA Certification in one or more areas listed (e.g., Structural Welding, Structural Steel & Bolting, Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, Spray-Applied Fireproofing, Soils).
• Proficiency with Windows-based software and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Good written and verbal communication skills; able to read drawings and write reports.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction work in the field and perform materials testing as a QA representative.
• Monitor compliance with drawings and specifications for concrete, masonry, steel, fireproofing, soils, and foundations.
• Read drawings, write reports, create sketches, and coordinate with engineers, contractors, and clients.
• Provide inspections at various sites in South/Northern NJ and perform related tasks as needed.

Job Description

Pennoni is seeking candidates with experience as a Special Inspector who are interested in performing daily special inspections and materials testing on exciting projects throughout the State of New Jersey. Candidates for this position are to have a minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in performing special inspections on civil/structural construction projects. Depending on your previous experience, you will inspect various projects in the areas of earthwork, reinforced concrete, structural masonry, fire proofing, structural steel bolting, structural steel welding, and perform related materials testing. The position also requires various certifications and will require proof of certifications or proof of the ability to obtain the necessary certifications at the time of interview.

JobResponsibilities

Pennoni Associates is currently seeking a Construction Inspector -NJDCA Certifiedat to work at various locations inSouth/Northern NJ with experience consistent, but not limited to:

• Working in the field at construction sites as a quality assurance representative inspecting construction work and performing construction materials testing
• Monitoring one or more of the following for compliance with the drawings and specifications: reinforced concrete, masonry, structural steel, spray applied fireproofing, soils and/or foundation construction
• Performing field testing of plastic concrete, grout, mortar and block, fireproofing, soils and/or nondestructive testing of welds
• Ability to read drawings and specifications, write reports, create sketches, communicate and coordinate with the engineers, contractors, and clients

Required Attributes:

• 1to3 years of related experience
• NJDCA Certification in one or more of the following:
• Structural Welding
• Structural Steel and Bolting
• Reinforced Concrete
• Structural Masonry
• Spray-Applied Fireproofing
• Soils
• Computer Skills: Windows-based software, Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, Word, and Outlook)
• High School Diploma
• Willing to work in the field performing some physical work
• Honest, dependable, and able to work independently and as part of a team
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Able to work at heights for steel/welding inspection
• Able to work construction hours, which may include overtime
• Reliable transportation

TARGET SALARY RANGE: $40+ (per hour)
