Duties, Responsibilities & Other

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Construction Inspector 3 works on active roadway and bridge construction projects. Works independently on less complex construction activities and assists experienced inspectors on complex construction assignments on active roadway and bridge construction projects. This role involves detailed documentation, communication, problem resolution, adherence to safety standards, and maintaining certifications. The individual in this role must be physically capable of performing field inspections and willing to work in various weather conditions, including potential night shifts and varied work schedules.

Documentation and Reporting:

  1. Prepare detailed and timely reports to document construction progress, inspection, and testing results.
  2. Record and report daily forms per project requirements.
  3. Review all work for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting.
  4. Maintain necessary records, measure field quantities, conduct field tests, and other tests as required to determine contractors’ compliance with contract specifications.
  5. Submit accurate timesheets, mileage, and expense reports on time each week.

Communication and Coordination:

  1. Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, staff, and supervisors.
  2. Resolve problems at the lowest level.

Inspection and Compliance:

  1. Perform field construction inspection and documentation services on various commercial, municipal, institutional, and/or heavy highway and bridge projects.
  2. Review job site safety daily and take immediate action to document and resolve issues.
  3. Understand and adhere to OSHA Safety Standards and corporate policies.
  4. Ensure compliance with all applicable industry standards and client requirements.

Certifications:

  1. NECEPT Bituminous Preferred
  2. NECEPT Concrete Preferred

Qualifications

Education and/or Skills Required:

  1. Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience working in a construction related field.
  2. High school/GED.
  3. Ability to understand construction plans, specifications, and procedures.
  4. Demonstrate basic math skills, including geometry and trigonometry.
  5. Possess the ability to read, write, and communicate fluently.
  6. Work effectively as a team member and complete daily reports by hand and computer.

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required:

  1. Valid Driver’s License.

Ability to pass and maintain required certifications.

  1. Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
