Job summary

Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber is seeking a Construction Inspector to support Ohio DOT work from regional offices in Cleveland. The role focuses on field observation, documenting contractor activities, and ensuring compliance with contract requirements.

You will prepare Daily Work Reports, assist with RFIs, and coordinate with engineers, technicians, survey staff, and stakeholders to ensure proper project execution. This is a full-time field position in the Ohio region.

Qualifications

• Proven field experience inspecting construction to ensure contract compliance.
• Experience with civil/structural construction materials and field testing.
• Proficiency with MS Office; familiarity with digital inspection platforms is a plus.
• Completion of ODOT technician programs or related bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform field observation and documentation of contractor activities for compliance with contract requirements.
• Prepare thorough Daily Work Reports detailing work status, postings, materials, and site conditions.
• Complete and submit calculations, sketches, and forms per ODOT specifications.
• Verify construction adherence to contract requirements and report non-compliance to senior staff.
• Assist with RFIs and act as liaison between contractors and senior technicians/engineers.
• Collaborate with project teams including engineers, technicians, survey staff, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Work closely with senior technicians and engineers to ensure proper execution of project designs.
