Job summary

Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber is seeking a Construction Inspector for Ohio DOT projects in the Toledo area. In this role you will inspect field activities, verify compliance with contracts and client specifications, and document findings for project records.

You will coordinate with engineers, technicians, survey staff, and contractors to ensure accuracy and timely reporting, applying ODOT standards and best practices.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Technology / Civil Engineering / Construction Management / Concrete Technology or equivalent.
• Completion of ODOT Certified Technician program or a bachelor’s degree in construction management or civil engineering.
• 2+ years of related experience in construction inspection.
• Familiarity with ODOT construction specifications and field experience.
• Experience with concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and utility construction inspection/testing.
• Preferred certifications: ACI Grade I, DOT Asphalt Tech, NICET Highway Construction Inspection, ICC Special Inspections, CWI/NDT.

Responsibilities

• Complete and submit required calculations, sketches, and forms per ODOT specifications.

• Assist with Requests for Information and serve as liaison between contractors and senior technicians/engineers.
• Collaborate with project teams, including engineers, technicians, survey staff, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Work closely with senior technicians and engineers to ensure proper execution of project designs.

Job Description

Working with our Civil Field team, you will inspect and ensure projects comply with regulations, project plans, and client specifications.

What We're Looking For

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Bluebeam, PlanGrid, and digital inspection platforms (AASHTOWare, Appia) is a plus.
• Experience with survey equipment including GPS or Arrow Systems is a plus.
