The Construction Inspector is responsible for inspecting all phases of highway construction and maintenance projects under the general supervision of senior or supervisory staff, ensuring construction quality in accordance with plans and specifications and providing a quality transportation system for the traveling public.
This position requires minimal lifting of up to 50 pounds, sometimes on a frequent basis. The employee must be able to travel and tour work sites under adverse environmental conditions not limited to loud noise levels, high dust and dirt, and extreme temperatures. The employee must be able to visually examine construction materials and finished structures and work in various types of weather and field conditions, including heights, uneven terrain, highway traffic, hazards of highway construction sites and heavy equipment.
This position is full-time (40 hours per week). Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing one unpaid hour for lunch each day. Work schedules may vary based on project demands. Night and weekend work may be required. While overtime is generally not anticipated, occasional projects or deadlines may necessitate additional hours, compensated according to company policy.
