Job summary

RK&K is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors, Supervisors, and Managers for PennDOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and municipal highway and bridge projects across South Central Pennsylvania. This field role will primarily operate at construction sites in Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and York counties (District 8).

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of transportation construction inspection experience or 4+ years in construction, plus applicable

Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) years of transportation construction inspection experience.

Responsibilities

• Work on roadway and bridge projects within the region.
• Oversee contractor’s quality control operations.
• Perform Quality Assurance sampling and testing.
• Complete Daily Sampling and Testing Reports.
• Prepare Daily Inspection Reports (PSA/IDR).
• Maintain daily communication with client, contractor, and field personnel.

Job description

RK&K is currently seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors, Supervisors, and Managers (TCI, TCIS, TCM) for PennDOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and Municipal highway and bridge projects throughout South Central Pennsylvania. This is a field position that will work primarily at specific construction sites within Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and York counties in PennDOT District 8. Ideal candidates will have at least two (2) years of transportation construction inspection experience, or at least four (4) years of construction industry experience (preferably heavy highway/bridge construction). RK&K also hires those with related experiences such as military and surveyor experience.

Essential Functions

• Work on various roadway and bridge projects within the region’s geographic area
• Oversight of contractor’s quality control operations
• Quality Assurance sampling and testing
• Completion of Daily Sampling and Testing Reports
• Daily Inspection Reports (PSA’s or IDR’s)
• Daily communication with client, contractor, and field project personnel

Required Skills and Experience

• One (1) year of experience as a PennDOT Technical Assistant
• Two (2) years minimum of transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection experience
• Four (4) years minimum of highway or bridge construction, non-highway or bridge inspection, or highway or bridge design experience
• Possession of a Transportation Technology Construction Inspection certification received through an accredited Technology program approved by the Department
• Bachelor of Science degree in a non-Civil Engineering field
• Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
• Active Professional Engineers License (PE)

Preferred Skills and Experience

• NICET Highway Construction Inspection Level 2 (or higher)
• NECEPT Asphalt/Bituminous Field Testing Technician Certification
• ACI/PennDOT Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification
• Experience using PennDOT ECMS v3 and PPCC
• Experience performing field inspections for roadway and bridge construction projects
• Ability to use an electronic tablet and computer and Microsoft Office products
• Ability to navigate construction sites in different terrain and weather conditions
• Ability to work day and/or night shifts, based on the type of operation taking place
• Ability to multitask project assignments and work independently
• Ability to obtain a Professional Engineering License
• Applicants must have their own vehicle and a valid driver’s license
