Job summary

Aqua America, Inc. is seeking a Construction Inspector to oversee water and wastewater capital projects across our eight-state footprint. You will inspect installations, ensure safety compliance, and maintain meticulous records of drawings and materials.

The role requires a PA DEP Class E license (or plan to obtain within 24 months), strong communication skills, and experience with GIS, AIMS, and Procore. Overnight travel may be required as projects demand.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; 2 years of technical education beyond high school preferred (Associate’s degree in Construction Technology or related field).
• Must have construction inspection experience and strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and computer skills.
• Proficiency in interpreting design drawings and using Aqua programs such as GIS, AIMS, Procore, etc.
• Must maintain a PA DEP Class E license or obtain within 24 months from hire.
• Valid driver’s license and availability for overtime.

Responsibilities

• Serve as initial contact with customers, vendors, officials, and regulators for construction issues.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Inspect and monitor outside contractors’ installation of water and wastewater system capital projects according to company specifications and standards, providing or monitoring procedures to place water mains, services and related appurtenances in service.
• Ensure adherence of the company’s safety program on construction projects, being familiar with OSHA regulations and work zone safety procedures.
• Maintain, provide and file record drawings of changes to plans and drawings made during construction, and keep records of mains, valves, service lines and other appurtenances installed on capital construction projects.
• Keep daily project construction inspection reports, generate and maintain records of quantities installed during projects, and communicate project status and job progression to your supervisor daily or as needed.
• Verify contractor’s applications for payment and change order requests, and assist in negotiations with contractors as required.
• Check proposed construction plans for omissions and/or constructability issues.
• Act as the first contact with customers, residents, vendors, municipal officials and regulators concerning issues that arise due to the construction projects, demonstrating professional communication skills.
• Complete other administrative and operational duties and provide assistance to other departments as needed and directed by your supervisor.
• Travel may be required for Aqua Construction Inspection, including overnight stays for multiple nights or weeks at a time.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent. Two years of technical education beyond high school is necessary (Associate’s Degree in Construction Technology or a related field is preferred). In lieu of two years of technical education, two years of experience in the above areas may be considered.
• Successful candidate must have construction inspection experience and superior organizational, interpersonal, communication and computer skills.
• Must be proficient in interpretation of design drawings, construction technology and the use of a computer for word processing, spreadsheet applications, e‑mail, and Aqua programs such as GIS, AIMS, Procore, etc.
• Must also maintain a PA DEP Class E license, or obtain the license within twenty‑four (24) months from date of hire.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be available for overtime.
