Job description

Full-Time Construction Inspector – Antioch, California (also San Francisco & San Jose)

Your Impact
  • Read and interpret project plans and specifications
  • Monitor construction for compliance with project documents
  • Measure, calculate, and document quantities of installed materials in accordance with client policies and procedures
  • Inspect road and bridge construction (based on Caltrans Standards)
  • Review, inspect, and approve traffic control systems, including lane closures, per Caltrans requirements
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant post‑education experience with prior construction inspection experience
  • Valid state driver’s license
  • Highly familiar with construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, processes, methods and techniques
  • Highly familiar with relevant construction codes, regulations, compliance practices and record‑keeping requirements
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills to interact with technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Sound self‑leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi‑tasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction and comply with company policies
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team to meet business objectives
  • Analytical mindset to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, spreadsheets and tools
  • Ability to provide input and feedback to others in the field such as subcontractors and colleagues to complete tasks safely, efficiently, and accurately per specifications
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project‑specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project‑specific requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree in a closely related discipline
  • Two years of education beyond the 12th grade in either engineering or surveying courses, including trigonometry, algebra, drafting, computer science, physics, chemistry or equivalent
  • Essential professional licensure/certification
  • ASBI Grouting Technician Certification (Grouting Inspector)

Compensation

Expected salary: $65/hr‑$85/hr, depending on experience level, location and other qualifications. Compensation may increase for work covered by California’s Prevailing Wage laws or other applicable wage and hour laws.
