Job summary

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking three Construction Inspectors to join our team in Ridgeland, SC. You will observe field construction activities, verify compliance with plans, and document quality to support safe infrastructure projects.

The role requires a high school diploma, at least three years of field experience, and the ability to read technical documents. SCDOT certification and a valid driver’s license are preferred; travel may be extensive.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate degree in Engineering Science, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of related construction observation experience.
• SCDOT certification in asphalt and earthwork preferred.
• Knowledge of construction techniques and ability to comprehend construction documents.
• Ability to work independently in the field while collaborating with project teams.
• Strong communication and mathematics skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Valid driver’s license; extensive travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Observe and document construction activities to ensure compliance with contract documents, plans, specifications, and approved submittals
• Verify quality of completed work through field measurements, computations, and monitoring of contractor quality control efforts
• Identify nonconforming work and support evaluation of corrective actions to ensure acceptability
• Review contractor payment applications, change orders, and quantities of completed work to support progress payments
• Coordinate with owners, contractors, and project teams while maintaining clear reports and accurate project records

Salary Range

$29.00 - $33.00

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
