Job description
Position Overview

The City of Racine offers a 3% differential on top of the hourly pay range for city residents. This position pays $21.82 per hour and involves performing various inspection-related tasks.

Essential Duties
  • Inspect road and sewer construction contracts to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Take measurements, make sketches, record field data, and assist the construction survey crew.
  • Maintain daily construction records and prepare monthly reports.
Conditions of Employment

Ability to work safely indoors and outdoors with minimal environmental exposure and low risk of injury.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Reliable transportation during work hours.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understand and interpret engineering roadway design plans, specifications, and relevant standards such as the Wisconsin Standard Specifications and MUTCD Part 6.
  • Ability to travel to multiple construction sites with required equipment.
Physical Demands

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Physical activities include standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, balancing, bending/twisting, reaching, feeling, talking, hearing, and lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.

Equipment Used

Engineer’s scale, measuring tape, calculator, testing equipment for concrete slump & air, and equipment for preparing concrete test cylinders.
