Job description

We have immediate needs for Construction Inspectors in the Asheville, Charlotte, Greensboro, Pinehurst, Raleigh, and Winston-Salem, NC areas for our Transportation division. The successful candidates will support our current staff while assisting in growing the Construction Management and CEI practice to better serve our clients statewide.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Perform construction inspection activities and assist in the administration of highway and bridge construction projects.
  2. Apply safety philosophy to all job responsibilities and work safely outdoors.
  3. Monitor contractor compliance with plans and specifications.
  4. Establish engineering controls for construction contractors and inspect the work.
  5. Prepare daily inspection reports.
  6. Perform on-site material testing and sampling.
  7. Measure and document completed work.
  8. Read and interpret construction plans and technical specifications.
  9. Communicate effectively with project staff and clients, both verbally and in writing.
  10. Operate basic computer and tablet (iPad) devices.

Employees will typically be assigned to NCDOT or other roadway and bridge projects, with daily travel to sites required. Night and weekend work may be necessary; overnight travel is unlikely but possible.

Candidates must hold a valid state driver’s license, have a clean driving record, and be able to lift 50 pounds, traverse rough terrain, walk or stand for extended periods, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Specific Requirements:

Applicants must have at least 5 years of construction inspection experience and possess or be able to acquire within 6 months the following NCDOT certifications at no cost:

  • NCDOT/ACI Concrete Field Tech, Grade I
  • QMS Asphalt Roadway Tech
  • Erosion & Sediment Control Level II
  • ABC Sampling
  • Borrow Pit Sampling
  • Conventional Density
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety

Must be able to perform essential job functions safely and consistently.

Compensation Range:

$60,140.00 - $80,187.00
