Job summary

Artheon is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to join our team in New Jersey. The role focuses on inspecting heavy highway, bridge, and road projects to ensure contractors comply with plans, specs, and safety regulations.

Daily site inspections, material testing, logs, and MPT compliance are core duties. Responsibilities include supervising documentation, ensuring safety, and assisting Resident Engineers with submittals and monthly estimates.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Heavy Highway construction.
• NICET II and above certification or higher; ACI Field Grade I; NJSAT; Rutgers TCC.
• Ability to read complex blueprints and communicate clearly in writing.
• Familiarity with New Jersey DOT or Turnpike Authority standards.
• Reliable vehicle for travel to and on job site; strong MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Quality Assurance: observe on-site work to ensure adherence to specs and quality.
• Document Control: prepare daily inspection reports and material logs; track quantities.
• Safety & Compliance: monitor work zones for safety and MPT/OSHA compliance; manage erosion control.
• Project Administration: assist Resident Engineers with submittals, pay items, and monthly estimates.

Job description

Artheon is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to join our team working on projects located in the State of New Jersey for various state and regional agencies. Primary responsibilities will be inspecting heavy highway, bridge, and road projects to ensure contractors comply with project plans, specifications, and safety regulations. Key duties include daily site inspections, material testing, maintaining daily logs of materials and project progress, and ensuring compliance with Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT) standards.

Compensation: $20.00 - $25.00 / hour

Key Responsibilities

• Quality Assurance: Observe work in progress to ensure procedures and materials strictly adhere to project specifications. Inspect paving, drainage, and structural elements on site.
• Document Control: Prepare daily inspection reports, maintain logs of materials used, and document workforce or equipment quantities.
• Safety & Compliance: Monitor work zones for proper safety measures, including MPT compliance and OSHA regulations. Identify unsafe conditions and enforce environmental regulations (e.g., erosion control).
• Project Administration: Assist Resident Engineers in processing submittals, tracking pay items, and approving monthly estimates of completed work.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Experience: 3+ years of experience in Heavy Highway construction
• Certifications: NICET II and above, ACI Field Grade I, NJSAT (New Jersey Society of Asphalt Technologists), and Rutgers TCC (Traffic Control Coordinator).
• Skills: Ability to read complex blueprints, strong written communication, and familiarity with agency electronic record systems (Site Manager, CapEx).
• Familiarity with New Jersey Department of Transportation or New Jersey Turnpike Authority standards
• Reliable personal vehicle for travel to-from and on job site
• Strong communication and technical writing skills
• Excellent computer skills are REQUIRED. Must be efficient in Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel and Outlook.
