Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Senior Inspector in Baltimore, MD to join our heavy civil transportation team. You will perform field inspections of roadways and bridges, ensuring safety compliance while collaborating with CEI professionals.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of relevant highway experience, strong communication, and the ability to work independently on small projects. A valid driver's license is required for on-site duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years of relevant experience on state highway projects and facilities.
• Able to operate Microsoft Office, laptop and iPad.
• Inspection experience on roadway, asphalt, concrete, pavement markings, structures and bridges.
• Excellent communication skills.

Senior Inspector - Baltimore, MD

RK&K is hiring talented Construction Inspectors to join our heavy civil, transportation construction team. This is a great opportunity to work with a team of CEI professionals and build on your skills as a leader in the field.

Essential Function

• Provide construction management support, including inspection and monitoring of roadway and bridge structures to ensure compliance with safety regulations
• Fully engage in solving complex problems to provide technical evaluation and sound solutions
• Interface with clients, state and federal agencies, and other engineering disciplines on construction projects
• Record-keeping and reporting as required
• Required technical and functional skills

Required Skills and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• (3) Three years of relevant experience in materials, standards, and specifications related to state highway projects and facilities
• Must be able to operate basic Microsoft Office Applications, Laptop and iPad
• Inspection experience including roadway, asphalt, concrete, pavement markings, structure and bridge construction methods
• Excellent communication skills
• Capable of working independently on small construction projects
• Valid driver's license and favorable driving record

Preferred Skills and Experience

• MDOT and other local public agency experience desired
• MDOT Material Certifications are a plus (Asphalt, Concrete, Pavement Marking, Soils, Intermediate Traffic Control Certified, etc.)

Physical Demands

This role requires the ability to perform field inspections on active construction sites. The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, navigate uneven terrain, and climb ladders or stairs. Ability to lift and carry inspection equipment and materials weighing up to 20-30 pounds on an occasional basis, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and may include exposure to construction-related hazards.
