Job description

Job Summary

Reads and interprets plans, proposals, and specifications to prepare bids and quotes; coordinates contracts, bonds, insurance, and assists in budgeting and project management.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Support and promote company values, ethics, safety, and policies.
  2. Order, read, and interpret plans and proposals; review drawings and specifications.
  3. Prepare project-cost summaries, bids, and related contracts; ensure timely submission.
  4. Assist project teams with estimating practices.
  5. Participate in job meetings and handoffs.
  6. Follow best practices in estimating, perform material take-offs, and audit others' take-offs.
  7. Research jobs in the field before finalizing estimates.
  8. Communicate with subcontractors and vendors for quotes.
  9. Participate in bid review meetings with stakeholders.
  10. Develop project schedules and identify critical phases.
  11. Present estimates to management and project owners.
  12. Follow up on bids and report results.
  13. Analyze completed projects to improve estimating accuracy.
  14. Maintain bid data accuracy and perform market analysis.
  15. Coordinate bid processes across regions and standardize procedures.
  16. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education & Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  2. Valid driver's license with a clean record.
  3. Over 5 years of experience in estimating construction projects, preferably heavy highway, municipal, or commercial.
  4. Proficiency in MS Office, estimating/bidding software, scheduling, and accounting software; experience with HCSS HeavyBid/HeavyJob, AGTEK, Bluebeam, JD Edwards is a plus.
  5. Leadership and mentoring ability.
  6. Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  7. Ability to meet deadlines and interpret technical and financial documents.
