Job summary

GCON Management Company LLC in Rio Rancho, NM is seeking a Construction Management Intern to work with the project team on documentation, cost tracking, scheduling, and construction supervision. You will gain hands-on experience using CMiC and project controls in a mentored environment.

The internship emphasizes daily learning, site visits, and presentations to executive leadership, with weekly trainings and a dedicated buddy support system to foster growth and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a related bachelor’s degree program or equivalent experience.
  • Interest in construction management and site execution.
  • Ability to learn CMiC and project controls processes.

Responsibilities

  • Understand Daily Construction Reports (DCR) and review them for accuracy.
  • Assist the PE, PM, & Superintendent in developing meeting agendas and minutes.
  • Implement the project-specific Quality Control (QC) Plan and demonstrate an understanding of associated risks.
  • Learn basic scheduling and assist with assembling the Long Lead Matrix; understand how the document coordinates with the Submittal Log and Project Schedule ROJ dates.
  • Understand the importance of safety preplanning in all phases of the project with project staff.
  • Understand GCON safety See it, Stop it, Fix it.
  • Learn how to identify potential unsafe work, notify the appropriate personnel, and follow through to resolution for remediation.
  • Learn how to interpret safety requirements for each subcontractor's scope of work subcontracted to the project.
  • Read and understand the GCON values.
  • Learn the basics of GSTEPS; know Step 1 owner's definition of success on the project.
  • Understand the importance of the project-specific Dust Control Plan (AZ Specific) ADEQ.

A Construction Management Intern at GCON will assist the project team with project documentation, job cost accounting, scheduling, and construction supervision efforts. The intern will learn to manage project controls and document management using CMiC. They will also assist in coordinating site activities, including subcontractor logistics and material deliveries. Each day will be different, offering continuous learning opportunities. As a Construction Management Intern for GCON, you will have varied daily tasks and be responsible for protecting and promoting GCON and its interests.

Responsibilities

Skills/Qualifications
  • Seeking bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field related field, or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to learn and adapt to technology platforms
Physical Requirements
  • Standing/Walking/Sitting: Workday is combination of standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Legs: Must be able to climb stairs
  • Hands/Arms: Constant use of hands/fingers for mouse/keyboard/computer use
  • Vision: Visual acuity in near, mid, and far range. Color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, hand/eye coordination
  • Hearing: Sufficient to hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone and radio; sufficient to hear alarms on equipment
  • Speech: Sufficient to make oneself heard in person, speak in front of groups, and be understood over the telephone and radio
  • Lift/Carry: Up to 40lbs
  • Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling
