Job summary

Clark Dietz, Inc. invites Civil or Construction Engineering students to join as Construction Engineer Interns.

You will assist engineering staff on transportation construction projects across IDOT, Tollway, and municipalities, performing inspections and documenting activities. The role offers hands-on experience, mentorship from a dedicated intern pod, and opportunities to learn technical and professional skills in a collaborative setting at Clark Dietz.

Qualifications

• Students with a declared major in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering are encouraged to apply.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and documents and research specifications and codes as needed.
• Ability to perform basic calculations to compute quantities, verify measurements, and organize and analyze data.
• Good organizational skills with strong attention to detail and a willingness to perform a variety of tasks with guidance from other staff.
• Good communication and listening skills with the ability to ask insightful questions and learn and apply new skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with construction inspection services on transportation construction projects.
• Duties include inspection and documentation of construction activities, computing quantities, and verifying measurements and layouts on project sites.
