Job summary

H&H in New Orleans, LA is seeking a Construction Project Engineer to join our Construction Engineering & Inspection group. You will lead roadway, interchange, and bridge projects and work under LADOTD standards to deliver quality, safe infrastructure.

Required: a BE or BS in Civil Engineering, a PE license, 5+ years of construction experience, and strong written and verbal communication. Prior LADOTD project experience and SiteManager familiarity are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in civil engineering or BE/BS with civil concentration.
• Licensed PE is required.
• 5+ years of construction engineering experience.
• LADOTD projects and SiteManager experience preferred.
• Operational knowledge of field inspection equipment.
• Highway and bridge construction experience highlighted.

Responsibilities

• Lead construction projects for roadway, interchange, and bridge projects per LADOTD/local standards.
• Apply LADOTD construction manuals, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards.
• Apply and monitor work zone traffic control plans.
• Prepare civil engineering cost estimates.
• Coordinate with team, supervise junior engineers, and interface with other disciplines.
• Read plans, specs, and special requirements; ensure QA/QC compliance.
• Prepare Daily Inspection Reports detailing work, quantities, and resources.

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Construction Project Engineer in our Construction Engineering & Inspection group located in the New Orleans Metro Area.

Responsibilities

• Lead construction projects for roadway, interchange, and bridge projects following LADOTD and local agency standards
• Apply the standards described in the LADOTD Construction Manuals and LADOTD Standard Plans, the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and AASHTO
• Apply and monitor work zone traffic control plans (WZTC/MPT)
• Perform civil engineering cost estimates
• Communicate and coordinate effectively with other team members of the construction team, manage, train and mentor junior civil engineers as well as coordinate with other project disciplines during construction
• Complete work accurately and in accordance with quality control and quality assurance procedures
• Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and any special requirements
• Manage the preparation of Daily Inspection Reports to document the work performed; the manpower, material, and equipment used; field measure and calculate quantities of work completed and other pertinent information

Requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or Bachelor of Science with a concentration on Civil Engineering
• Licensed PE
• Detail and goal-oriented, and proficient in both verbal and written communications
• Five+ years of relevant experience in construction engineering
• Highway: some or all the experience with the reconstruction of asphalt and concrete pavements, drainage systems, roadway lighting and traffic signals; utility protection/relocation; pavement markings/striping; and related work
• Bridge: Several or all the following: concrete & steel demolition; repair of reinforced concrete and structural steel; steel erection; construction of reinforced concrete decks; retaining walls and/or substructure units (piles, piers & abutments); reconstruction of approach roadways; inspection of Work Zone Traffic Control (WZTC) and related work
• LADOTD projects and SiteManager experience (preferred)
• Operational knowledge of field inspection equipment
