Job summary

McCownGordon Construction is seeking a motivated learner to support project management and field teams across operations. The role focuses on project setup, planning, controls, procurement, scheduling, and close-out, with emphasis on safety and quality control on active sites.

You will work with the project team to gather documentation, assist in meetings, and help maintain project records. This entry-level position offers hands-on exposure to construction management processes and Procore usage

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
  • Experience or exposure to Procore is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports project management and field management on all aspects of project operations.
  • Learns and supports project set-up, planning, controls, procurement, schedule, administration, close-out, and other project responsibilities.
  • Learns and supports project team with quality control, safety, and project meetings.
  • Assists with documenting changes and managing RFIs and submittals.
  • Supports site safety planning, inspections, and daily safety documentation.

POSITION SUMMARY

Learns from and supports project management and field management on all aspects of the project operations. Learns and supports project set-up and planning, project controls, procurement, schedule, project administration, close-out, and other project responsibilities. Learns and supports project team with quality control, safety, and project meetings.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety

  • Understands, implements, and assists with the site-specific safety plan with assistance from the project team and safety department.

  • Understands and assists with site safety inspections, documentation, and corrective actions.

  • Participates in project safety self-assessments.

  • Leads by example and ensures safety is the highest priority on the project.

  • Understands the ORM process; ensures completion of daily documentation.

  • Assists with ensuring all trade partner site safety requirements are reviewed for accuracy and documented prior to starting work.

  • Understands the Hazardous Building Material Survey(s) process on renovation or demolition projects; consults Safety Team as needed.

  • Understands and assists with safety planning for potential High-Risk Activities.

Logistics, Self-Perform & Building Performance Solutions

  • Understands the project’s equipment utilization plan, coordinates with the Logistics Center.

  • Assists with schedule, coordination, and unit tracking of self-perform tasks.

  • Develops familiarity with Building Performance Solutions services and supports their implementation onsite.

  • Participates in implementation of QAQC site specific plan/action plan.

  • Assists in identifying non-conforming work; documents and tracks corrective action.

  • Assists with management of required mock-ups; ensures mock ups are planned/coordinated, reviewed by the appropriate parties, and documented accordingly.

  • Participates in preinstallation meetings with trade partners prior to commencing work.

  • Assists in securing the project daily; maintains site logistic plan, and assists in coordinating company branding (signs, fence panels, etc.).

  • Develops familiarity with building control points and utility locates.

Project/Field Management and Controls

  • Assists with documenting and communicating changes to the project.

  • Documents all Requests for Information (RFI); manages communication/distribution to affected contractors, and updates construction documents.

  • Assists with ensuring all documentation for the project is set up, maintained, organized, and up to date. Ensures naming of project files are consistent.

  • Understands owner contract, risk, deliverables, terms and conditions.

  • Understands project-specific General Conditions and General Requirements structure.

  • Assists with ensuring drawings, specifications, and all site-specific plans, etc. are up to date in Procore and available for all team members.

  • Assists with ensuring regular photo / video documentation is being conducted.

  • Assists with Projections, Deep Dives, and ERE’s by contributing to meeting preparation, planning, and facilitation with project team; follows up on action items.

  • Understands and leads the overall submittal process (procurement log, submittal register, deadlines, submittal review and compliance, documentation, and continuous/weekly follow-up).

  • Understands, assists, and prepares project meeting agendas, documents and distributes meeting minutes and attachments; presents at meetings (OAC, Progress, Pre-Installation, and Coordination Meetings).

  • Assist with preparation of delay documentation (permit, weather, trade partner, etc.) for Project Manager implementation.

  • Awareness and exposure to overall project budget development, modifications, and cost review meetings.

  • Assists trade partners, vendors, and site staff with schedule coordination weekly; communicates and monitors upcoming deadlines.

  • Organizes and executes punch list process and assists with close out.

  • Tracks field work directives (FWD) with Superintendent and Project Manager.

  • Participates in and assists Superintendent with documentation of on-site inspections.

  • Ensures project site is clean, organized and representative of McCownGordon expectations.

Relationships

  • Communicates clearly when assistance is needed.

  • Builds and maintains superior relationships with clients, design team, trade partners, and associates.

  • Participates in community and professional associations.

  • Represents the company in a professional manner at all times.

  • Escalates issues/conflicts to project leadership.

  • Contributes to a high performing team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Proficiency in computer applications, preferably Microsoft Office.

  • Exposure to/ability to use Procore.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires work in an office environment and construction job sites.
