Job summary

ESCO Electric is seeking a Construction Electrician trainee to assist with installing and maintaining commercial and industrial electrical systems. This role focuses on on-the-job training toward an Electrical Apprenticeship, emphasizing safety, strong work ethic, and continuous skill development.

You will work under Journeyworker Electrician and Foreperson supervision, gradually performing tasks as skills develop while contributing to project sites and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installation of raceways, conduit, cable tray, and electrical equipment.

  • Assist in pulling, labeling, and terminating cables for power, control, and communication.
  • Install boxes, supports, hangers, and electrical hardware as directed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and operate tools safely.

Construction Electrician

7:00 am to 3:30pm

May be required to work extended hours including holidays and weekends due to the 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year type of service ESCO provides its clients

Synopsis

The Construction Electrician assists Journeyworker Electrician and Foreperson with the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial and industrial electrical systems. This position is intended for individuals developing their electrical trade skills in preparation for the Electrical Apprenticeship through on-the-job training. Construction Wiremen are expected to work safely, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and continuously develop the knowledge and skills necessary to advance within the electrical trade.

Responsibilities and Duties

The Construction Electrician will be responsible for, but not limited to:

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist with the installation of electrical raceways, conduit, cable tray, supports, and electrical equipment.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, and assemble conduit under the direction of a Journeyworker.
  • Assist with pulling, labeling, and terminating power, control, instrumentation, and communication cables.
  • Install boxes, supports, hangers, anchors, and miscellaneous electrical hardware.
  • Assist in the installation of lighting systems, receptacles, panelboards, disconnects, transformers, motor controls, and other electrical equipment.
  • Load, unload, organize, and stage materials and tools for daily work activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and construction equipment when properly trained.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Learning and Development Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement in electrical knowledge and installation techniques.
  • Accept coaching and constructive feedback from supervisors and Journeyworker.
  • Progress toward independently performing assigned electrical tasks as skills develop.
Safety Responsibilities
  • Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies and procedures.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Participate in daily Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
  • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses, and damaged equipment immediately.
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), fall protection, and other site-specific safety requirements.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping throughout the work area.
Quality Responsibilities
  • Perform work in accordance with company quality standards.
  • Follow installation instructions provided by Journeyworker and Foreperson.
  • Verify work before requesting inspections.
  • Protect customer property, equipment, and finished work.
  • Take pride in producing neat, professional installations.

Background and Work Experience

To be considered, candidates should have:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Enrollment in, or willingness to enroll in the electrical apprenticeship program
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn the electrical trade.
  • Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred.
  • Ability to pass required background checks, drug screening, and site-specific safety requirements.
Preferred
  • Previous construction, industrial, or mechanical experience.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certification.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Experience operating basic construction equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical tools, materials, and terminology.
