Job summary

This opportunity entitles being responsible for providing senior proficiency level inspection or construction field work to monitor compliance with engineering/architectural plans and specifications. The Construction Field Specialist supervises the work of project staff to determine that contractor's construction activities are monitored and controlled in accordance with design specifications and contractual requirements. May serve as interface on-site between Client, Company Personnel and Contractor in resolution of project issues. May be responsible for project tasks under a Resident Engineer or serving as the assistant to the Resident Engineer on a large and/or complex Project.

Core Job Duties
  • Inspects new, existing, and modified electrical installations to ensure compliance with Caltrans and LA Metro specifications, and the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (CAMUTCD).
  • Reviews vendor submittals, coordinates with designers, local agencies, utility companies, and contractors.
  • Inspects roadway lighting, traffic monitoring systems, traffic signals, and other transportation-related electrical facilities.
What You'll Do
  • Inspects, observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with project schedule, contract documents and plans.
  • Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.
  • Advises Contractor Superintendent or Project Manager of necessary actions to ensure conformance with plan, specs and contract.
  • Reviews and resolves quantity disputes with contractor.
  • Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform sophisticated and complicated mathematical calculations, constructability and biddability reviews, and measurements of completed work to date.
  • Reviews and check calculations for Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contractor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.
  • Performs on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches.
  • Leverage relationships with peers for project discovery and talent acquisition.
  • Maintains as-built record drawings.
  • Performs contract close-out documentation.
  • Performs construction schedule reviews, contractor pay estimate reviews, and change order management.
  • Prepares and leads project progress meetings.
  • Serves as field technical subject matter expert.
  • May lead daily assignments, mentor, and train employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need

Associates degree in Engineering, Construction Services, or related field and 14 years relevant experience, or Bachelor’s in engineering, construction services or related field and 12 years of relevant experience, or In lieu of degree, 16 years of relevant experience.

What You'll Bring

Leverages collaborative relationships with peers for project success. Leads project progress meetings to deliver the project to client satisfaction. Leads the project in the absence of the resident engineer or project manager. Serves as the primary project point of contact, as needed. Coordinates the project for multiple sites.

What We Prefer

15 years of relevant experience. In lieu of degree, 19 years of relevant experience.

Locations

Locations: Norwalk, CA. The approximate pay range for Los Angeles Metro Area and Orange County, CA is $173,075.17 - $276,470.74. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
