Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; ABET-accredited preferred.
• 5+ years electrical construction experience with a bachelor’s degree.
• Experience with large-scale data center construction projects preferred.
• Knowledge of MS Project or Primavera P6 for scheduling.
• Ability to develop project schedules and resource plans.
• Ability to estimate project work and prepare customer proposals.
• Understanding of critical path analysis and potential schedule/resource issues.
• Ability to discuss schedules, costs, and budgets with leadership.
• Knowledge of procurement processes and supplier evaluation.

Responsibilities

Construction Deputy Project Leader – Washington, DC Metro Area

We are seeking a Deputy Project Leader to support electrical construction activities across multiple data center projects in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

This position will help oversee projects throughout the construction lifecycle, working with project leadership, field teams, general contractors, customers, engineers, vendors, and other project stakeholders. Responsibilities include project planning and scheduling, resource coordination, cost and progress tracking, documentation, procurement, and helping ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Responsibilities

• Manage the administration, organization, and implementation of electrical construction projects or portions of larger, more complex data center projects
• Manage one or more phases of the project lifecycle, including proposal, design, planning, installation, and closeout
• Prepare project documentation, including project requirements, manpower requirements, layouts, schedules, equipment plans, and field support requirements
• Coordinate and participate in project kick-off meetings
• Develop work breakdown structures and resource plans to establish project baselines
• Schedule project resources and monitor performance against established schedules
• Track baseline versus actual resource utilization and project progress
• Prepare site surveys, cost studies, forecasts, cost codes, and progress reports
• Collect and analyze progress data for both self-performed and subcontracted work
• Monitor project performance against cost, budget, schedule, and scope
• Coordinate project documentation, including shop drawings and other required project artifacts
• Assist with procurement of major materials, tools, and equipment
• Coordinate required permits, licenses, and inspectionsWork with estimators, engineers, schedulers, field teams, and other resources to resolve construction issues
• Review project schedules with general contractors and customers as required
• Track project closeout activities, including punch-list items, as-built drawings, operations and maintenance manuals, and training materials
• Identify opportunities for cost savings, quality improvements, and improved project execution
• Ensure safety requirements are followed across project activities
• Maintain strong working relationships with project leadership and other stakeholders to achieve project milestones

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, Physics, or a related discipline; ABET-accredited program preferred
• 5+ years of electrical construction experience with a bachelor's degree
• Experience supporting large-scale data center construction projects preferred
• Working knowledge of project management and scheduling systems, including MS Project or Primavera P6
• Ability to develop project schedules and resource plans
• Ability to estimate project work and prepare customer proposals
• Understanding of critical path analysis and the ability to identify potential schedule and resource issues
• Ability to discuss project schedules, costs, and budgets with project leadership
• Working knowledge of procurement processes, including supplier evaluation and purchasing technical goods and services
• Ability to create and maintain technical and project documentation
• Strong communication, presentation, team-building, and leadership skills
• Experience with AutoCAD, Engineering Document Management Systems (EDMS), Microsoft Visio, SharePoint, and estimating tools such as Accubid or ProPricer

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of financial systems as they relate to project budgets and cost codes
• Understanding of earned value analysis as it relates to project management
• Experience using automated cost and schedule management systems
• PMP certification is a plus
