Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing with the North Carolina State Bar and/or South Carolina Bar required.
• Construction defect or civil litigation experience preferred.
• Strong research, writing, and litigation skills.
• Experience with discovery, depositions, hearings, and other litigation proceedings preferred.
• Familiarity with state and federal court procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with attorneys and staff.

Responsibilities

• Handle construction defect defense and related civil litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Represent clients in disputes involving construction defects, property damage, contractual claims, and related liability issues.
• Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, memoranda, and other legal documents.
• Conduct legal research and analyze applicable statutes, case law, and procedural rules.
• Manage written discovery, document review, and production.
• Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
• Attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations, case management conferences, and other court proceedings.
• Assist with developing litigation strategies, evaluating liability, and assessing damages.
• Work with construction experts, engineers, contractors, and other professionals as needed.
• Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation, exhibits, and pretrial motions.
• Communicate regularly with clients, insurance carriers, experts, and opposing counsel.
• Maintain compliance with court deadlines, client reporting requirements, and internal case management procedures.
