Job summary

Zachry Group is seeking a Construction Craft Rep to assist the Craft Supervision team with planning, earned value, material management and support across projects. The role focuses on MTOs, IWPs, cost codes and submittals to keep installation work progressing smoothly.

You will coordinate with superintendents, design engineers and other project staff, develop IWPs from CWPs, track material and equipment, and help troubleshoot field challenges to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• Journeyman tradesperson with 3+ years field experience or equivalent.
• 3 years minimum field experience (Engineering/Subject Matter tracks) or 5 years SME track.
• AWP Training completed and ability to use common software.

Responsibilities

• Perform constructability analysis of CWPs and develop electronic packages.
• Support conversion of CWPs to IWPs with input from Supervisor.
• Track missing materials/equipment for IWPs within 90 days.
• Estimate resource needs for each IWP and verify with foreman.
• Coordinate with other crafts to ensure logical execution sequence.
• Verify MTOs and load into progress database.
• Identify constraints and mitigate scheduling issues.
• Issue BOMs to material management for IWPs.
• Ensure correct drawing revisions are included in IWPs.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary

Zachryis collecting applications for Construction Craft Rep to assist the Craft Supervision team (General Foremen, Foremen and Superintendents) with craft work planning, earned value, quantity management, document management, procurement/material management, cost management and technical support. A successful Construction Craft Rep interfaces well with the Craft Supervision team, Design Engineers, and other members of the project team. Specific task assignments include Material takeoffs (MTOs), progress measurement and reporting, development of material requisitions, utilization of 4D modeling program, review of cost codes, communication of design drawing and specification requirements and submittal of time sheets. The Construction Craft Rep reports directly to the Planning Lead and has overall responsibility for supporting the building of Installation Work Packages (IWP’s) and maintaining IWP’s for progress and updates. The Construction Craft Rep is expected to support the development of plans based upon the project schedule and their craft superintendent’s execution strategy. Multiple craft reps on site support the superintendents and the planner assigned to a craft. Opportunities will be available in muti-state to support construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform constructability analysis on high level Construction Work Packages (CWPs) and develop electronic packages.
• Support the development of CWPs into IWPs with input from Superintendent.
• Track missing material/equipment for IWPs within 90 days of the plan.
• Estimate resource requirements for each IWP and verify with the General Foreman.
• Work with other craft reps and Workface Planners from other disciplines to ensure that the execution sequence is logical and well-coordinated.
• Verify MTO’s for each IWP and load into the project progressing database (if not using a software program that performs this task).
• Identify constraints and mitigate or verify prior to scheduling the package for execution. (materials, scaffolds, equipment, tools, etc.)
• Issue Bill of Materials to Material Management for Trial Allocation and fulfilment of material for IWP’s
• Ensure correct drawing revisions are included in IWP’s before issuance to the field for execution.
• Develop, issue, and track IWP’s.
• Help troubleshoot field challenges to mitigate crew downtime.
• Support the development of Requests for Information (RFIs) when appropriate.
• Close out IWPs when complete and reassign tasks to other IWPs if required.
• Capture construction progress in project quantity tracking system Work Packs.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Technical Track (Level 1 Planner)

• Journeyman tradesperson (or equivalent) for 3 years minimum.
• Supervisory experience (1 year minimum)
• AWP Training
• Adequate computer skills (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe (.pdf), etc.)

Engineering Track (Level 1 Planner)

• 3 years minimum field experience
• Recommendation from employer (verified)
• AWP Training
• Adequate computer skills (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe (.pdf), etc.)
• (4-year degree)

Subject Matter Expert Track (Level 1 Planner)

• 5 years minimum field experience (resume w/ references)
• Recommendation from employer (verified)
• AWP Training
• Adequate computer skills (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe (.pdf), etc.)

Minimum Education required (none, high school, AA, BA, etc.)

• High School Diploma

Preferred Qualifications But Not Required

• 1-3 years of field experience in Construction Engineering
• Experience with scheduling, report writing, data entry, filing and document management
• Knowledge of Craft Progress- Work Packs, Aconex SIMS, Oracle, scheduling software

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employees will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, video chat and software systems. Position will include visits to maintenance sites and industrial facilities requiring mobility (on ground and at heights) and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and work boots.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employees will work in multiple environments including an office, warehouse and in a trailer or building on sites. On work sites noise levels will be moderate to high. Job site will contain light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools, people standing, walking, sitting, signaling and talking, bells whistles and alarms.
