Job summary

UniTek Global Services is seeking a Construction Coordinator to oversee aerial, buried, and underground fiber optic installations, ensuring quality inspections and coordinating with contractors to meet client standards.

You will document conditions, generate reports, and assist with accurate billing by applying correct unit codes. Travel and on-call work may be required as part of ensuring project success.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in OSP telecommunications design or construction.
• -Knowledge of National Electric Safety Code (NESC) standards.
• -Experience with buried, aerial, and UG cable facilities.
• -Knowledge of cable splicing, cable maintenance, and OSP fiber/copper placement.
• -Design or construction experience with OSP including FTTP deployments.
• -Ability to develop reports, take photos, document discrepancies and recommended fixes.
• -Ability to verify work against guidelines and standards.
• -Proficient in Microsoft 365.
• -Willingness to travel and be on-call.
• -Basic command of English for safety requirements.

Job Description

The Construction Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating construction activities and performing quality inspections of the placement of aerial, buried and underground fiber optics cable, conduit, grounding and bonding inspections, hand hole, pedestal and aerial terminal placement, documentation, and ensuring the adherence to standards and established procedures. They also work closely with the subcontractors to accurately determine the appropriate billing for jobs.

Required qualifications

• -Motivated self-starter with a passion and drive to start and complete projects.
• -Experience and understanding of telecommunications outside plant construction techniques.
• -Knowledge of buried, aerial, and UG cable facilities.
• -Knowledge of Cable Splicing, Cable Maintenance, OSP Fiber/Copper Cable Placement.
• -Design or Construction experience with OSP including Fiber To the Premise (FTTP) deployments. Experience should include aerial and underground cable systems, splicing, testing, termination, and cable placement.
• -Ability to Develop and provide reports on conditions found, take photos, document discrepancies and recommended fix actions where applicable.
• -Ability to verify work was completed per applicable guidelines and standards.
• - Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications.
• -Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in OSP telecommunications design or construction.
• -Knowledge of National Electric Safety Code (NESC) Standards.
• -Knowledge of utility locating methods and experience using cable locating equipment.
• -Must have a basic command of the English language to understand the safety requirements of the position.
• - Requires the ability to travel and be available for on-call work as needed.
