Job summary

IREN is seeking a Commissioning Supervisor - Mechanical to lead installation, testing, and startup of HVAC, liquid cooling, and piping systems in high-performance data centers. You will supervise hands-on commissioning, ensuring safety, quality, and performance standards are met, and coordinate with field teams and clients on integrated solutions.

Applicants should have 5+ years in mechanical commissioning or construction management, with 2+ years in data centers, OSHA-30, and strong experience

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, construction management, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years in mechanical commissioning or construction management; ≥2 years in data center or mission-critical environments.
  • OSHA-30 certification (or within 6 months)
  • Advanced understanding of OSHA regulations and safety protocols
  • Knowledge of HVAC, chilled water, precision cooling, liquid cooling tech (CDU, immersion cooling, direct-to-chip)
  • Proficiency in P&IDs, mechanical drawings, commissioning scripts, Change Management
  • Strong leadership, communication, and technical writing
  • Familiarity with commissioning software, BMS, Procore, Primavera, MS Project, MS Office

Responsibilities

  • Lead commissioning of mechanical systems including HVAC, chilled water, and liquid cooling.
  • Verify installations against design specs, performance benchmarks, and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors for installation, testing, and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot issues during startup, testing, and commissioning phases.
  • Develop and implement Lockout/Tagout procedures for safe energization.
  • Conduct walk-through inspections for compliance with specs, safety, and regs.
  • Inspect materials and installation practices for contract and code adherence.
  • Document inspection results and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide QA/QC feedback across project phases and support risk mitigation.
  • Train and oversee subcontractor teams for policy compliance.
  • Ensure mechanical systems meet contractual, regulatory, and safety benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with field teams, design engineers, and clients on integrated solutions.
  • Support energy efficiency strategy development and verification for mechanicals.

We’re seeking aCommissioning Supervisor - Mechanical to lead the installation, testing, and startup of mechanical systems in high-performance data centers. This role involves hands‑on commissioning of HVAC systems, liquid cooling infrastructure, and piping systems, ensuring all work meets stringent safety, quality, and performance standards.

Job requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical commissioning or construction management, with at least 2 years in data center or mission-critical environments.
  • OSHA-30 certification (or must be obtained within six months of hire).
  • Advanced understanding of OSHA regulations and company safety protocols.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems including high-efficiency HVAC, chilled water, precision cooling, and liquid cooling technologies (e.g., CDU, immersion cooling, direct-to-chip).
  • Proficient in interpreting P&IDs, mechanical drawings, commissioning scripts, and Change Management plans.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills to manage diverse teams and complex projects. Strong technical writing and documentation capabilities.
  • Familiarity with commissioning software, Building Management Systems (BMS), and project management tools such as Procore, Primavera, MS Project, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Other important requirements
  • Pre-employment screening, including background check and substance testing may be required according to company policies.
  • Must provide own steel-toed work boots; all other PPE will be supplied.
  • Must be able to reliably commute to the work operations site daily or have plans to relocate before starting work.
  • Must be comfortable working a rotational schedule, which includes day and night shifts as well as weekend work, based on project needs.
  • Employees working night shifts will receive a 15% premium added to their hourly rate only for hours worked during night shifts.

  • Inspect materials, manufactured components, and installation practices for adherence to contract and code requirements.
  • Document inspection results, recommend corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution of non‑compliant issues.
  • Provide QA/QC feedback throughout all phases of the project and support the development of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Train and oversee subcontractor teams to ensure consistent compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all mechanical systems meet contractual obligations, regulatory codes, and safety benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with field teams, design engineers, and clients to develop integrated, solution-oriented approaches.
  • Support the development and verification of energy efficiency strategies for mechanical systems.

Compensation
  • The expected hourly rate for this role is $58.50 USD.
    • Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications.
  • Per Diem amount of $180.00 and project allowance, when applicable
  • 15% night-shift premium for eligible roles, when applicable
  • Overtime compensation for non-exempt workers for hours worked over 40 per week
  • Relocation and Living-out-allowance (as applicable and based on successful candidate circumstances)
