Job summary

QBE North America is offering a Summer 2027 internship in its New York office within the North America Claims organization. The role supports Construction Claims teams and provides hands-on exposure to insurance operations, risk management, and related fields.

The internship runs from June 1 to August 6 and is a hybrid arrangement with four in-office days weekly in New York. Participants will learn the claims process, policy review, and collaborate with actuaries, underwriters, and legal teams

Qualifications

  • Enrollment at a 4 year accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor's degree.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience through extracurricular activities, community service or previous work experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Learn claims process from intake to resolution under the guidance of a Claims Specialist.
  • Review of applicable insurance policies to become familiar with these contracts and the coverage they provide.
  • Collaborate with internal business partners, including actuaries, underwriters, legal and litigation management.
  • Accompany Claims Specialists in relevant internal and external meetings.
  • Attend and participate in educational training sessions.

The Opportunity: QBE has a Summer 2027 internship opportunity in its North America Claims organization based in its New York office. This position will support the Construction Claims teams. Participants will be exposed to the daily operations of an international insurance company through hands-on learning and on the job training. This position is an excellent opportunity for those interested in exploring careers in claims, risk management and other related insurance fields. You will work alongside industry leaders to build your skill set and professional network. The internship will run from June 1st to August 6th.

Location: New York, NY

Work Arrangement: This role is hybrid, where you will be expected to be in the New York office 4 days per week.

The pay rate: $24.50-26.50

Your New Role
  • Learn claims process from intake to resolution under the guidance of a Claims Specialist
  • Review of applicable insurance policies to become familiar with these contracts and the coverage they provide
  • Collaborate with internal business partners, including actuaries, underwriters, legal and litigation management
  • Accompany Claims Specialists in relevant internal and external meetings

Qualifications
  • Enrollment at a 4 year accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor's degree. Specific major not required, but this position is well suited for those majoring in Risk Management, Business, Finance or Pre-Law.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience through extracurricular activities, community service or previous work experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint
