Overview
Zurich gives you the tools and support to construct a rewarding career in the Insurance industry. We are looking for a Construction Casualty Underwriter (Level II or Sr. Level III) to work remotely in Tennessee, preferably based in the Nashville area.
Role and Responsibilities
- Analyze and underwrite new and renewal Casualty business both in the US and internationally.
- Market facing position with a strong sales execution mindset and knowledge of commercial construction casualty policies.
- Travel up to 20% of the time.
- Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations.
- Develop, maintain and collaborate with line of business representatives and other business-related needs, as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) to support business retention and acquisition, and work with customers and distributors to determine needs and provide solutions.
- Support the organization\'s sales culture by serving as a help point for agents, brokers and customers.
- Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
- Complete detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
- Qualify accounts to meet the organization\'s appetite and sound business opportunities.
- Make broker/customer on-site calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose.
Basic Qualifications — Level II
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in underwriting or market facing area; OR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the claims or underwriting support area; OR
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in underwriting or market facing area; OR
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the claims or underwriting support area; AND
- Knowledge of lines of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines
- Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
- Experience with Microsoft Office
Basic Qualifications — Senior Construction Casualty Underwriter (Level III)
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in underwriting or market facing area; OR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the claims or underwriting support area; OR
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in underwriting or market facing area; OR
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the claims or underwriting support area; AND
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
- Experience working in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Commercial Construction Casualty underwriting experience and broker relationships in the South/South Eastern region
- Ability to effectively assess risk
- Strong negotiation skills
- Superior skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiating; possess knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines
- Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills reflective of progression of positions of increasing responsibility
- PC and related software skills
- CPCU and ARM a plus
Compensation and Benefits
At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Zurich commits to providing a fair and reasonable compensation range for each role. For more information about our Total Rewards, please consider the information provided by the company. Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. The combined salary range for this position is $66,900.00 - $144,900.00. The proposed salary range for Level II is $66,900.00 - $109,600.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%. The proposed salary range for Level III is $88,500.00 - $144,900.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
