Job summary

Bechtel seeks a Construction Automation Engineer to support project teams with automation software, QA, training and data management across the lifecycle of US LNG and energy projects.

You will establish and maintain Unifier, Power Apps and related tools, coordinating data flows with design, supply chain and project controls while ensuring accuracy and process compliance. Mobility across Gulf Coast LNG projects may be required.

Responsibilities

• Establish and administer the Construction Automation applications suite (Unifier, Power Apps, TEAMWorks, SetRoute, WITS, SSRS, BPS, DCS/MAP).
• Maintain Unifier and Power Apps Workflows.
• Define requirements for Construction Automation Systems to support work processes.
• Coordinate automated data transfer between applications with design engineering, supply chain and project controls.
• Configure BSAPs and other applications to meet project requirements.
• Understand and configure reporting to meet needs and ensure accuracy.
• Troubleshoot data for accuracy and completeness; address anomalies.
• Provide ongoing administration to BSAPs and support end users.
• Interface with corporate BSAP administrators to adjust functionality.

Project Overview

The selected candidate will initially be placed on one of our four Liquefied Natural Gas Plant Projects in the US Gulf Coast Region for our Energy Global Business Unit, but we may also require the selected candidate to have future mobility to one of our other Global Business Units in a different location. The ideal candidate will have market sector/ sub sector construction industry experience in energy (liquefied natural gas), manufacturing and technology (semiconductor, chemical, pharmaceutical, data centers, fire power generation), infrastructure (aviation, rail, roads/bridges), mining and minerals (water treatment plant, mineral extraction, metal refining), & nuclear, security, and environmental (nuclear power epc, power distribution, combined cycle, defense and space, environmental cleanup). As needs arise in our growing business, there will be expectation for the candidate to be fully mobile.

Job Summary

In this role, you will provide automation support to project teams, including setup, training, application use in work-process, software quality assurance and control, reporting, database administration, and close-out of all construction automation software and applications. Your technical knowledge will help ensure applications and software meet user requirements and are compliant with work processes.

Major Responsibilities

• The Construction Automation Engineer is responsible for establishing and administering the suite of Construction Automation applications. This includes, but is not limited to, the following applications: Unifier, PowerApps, AI – enabled solutions, TEAMWorks, SetRoute, WITS (Weld and Welder tracking system), Smart Completions, SSRS, Bechtel Productivity Services (BPS) (Xfighters), AWP Tools and DCS/ MAP.
• Maintain existing and create new Unifier and Power Apps Workflows.
• Work with the Project Team to establish the requirements for Construction Automation Systems to support construction work processes.
• Coordinate with design engineering, supply chain, project controls, and other departments to establish automated data transfer between applications.
• Configure BSAPs and other applications to meet project requirements.
• Understand reporting requirements for each application and configure reports accordingly. Ensure reports are accurate and functioning as intended.
• Review/trouble-shoot data for accuracy and completeness. Identify and address anomalies.
• Provide ongoing administration to each BSAP.
• Provide training and technical support to end users, including field engineering, supervision, administration, project controls, and other site personnel.
• Interface with corporate BSAP administrators to change functionality or configuration of applications to meet project specific requirements.

Education And Experience Requirements

• Requires a University Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge And Skills

• Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction and practical experience is required.
• Extensive knowledge of Unifier and linking Unifier to Bechtel BSAPs and other applications is required.
• Extensive knowledge of Power Apps and linking Power Apps to Bechtel BSAPs and other applications is required.
• Extensive knowledge of TEAMWorks and associated applications used for data integrity and reporting is required.
• Experience with other Bechtel Standard applications, including but not limited to SETROUTE and DSCS/EBS required.
• A good understanding of Bechtel standard construction work processes and procedures required.
• Advanced level capability of databases is required.
• Bechtel Direct Hire Construction experience is preferred.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.

Additional Information

Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
