Job summary

ISAT Total Support /Tomarco is seeking an Assistant Project Manager in Sacramento to support a Project Manager mentor on tasks including customer billing, modeling, coordination, and submittals. You will gain hands-on experience in project coordination and technical support while developing foundational PM skills.

The role offers exposure to AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks, with growth opportunities, and a focus on teamwork, quality work, and customer satisfaction within a growing company.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
  • Proficient in business communication.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
  • Familiarity with ASCE-7, IBC, UFC, CBC.

Responsibilities

  • Manage smaller projects under mentor guidance.
  • Input hours in Nexus billing software.
  • Communicate project tasks and document coordination outcomes.
  • Maintain organized project files per standards.
  • Build basic submittals using TDLF/SDF data.
  • Create bracing legends in CBC/IBC/UFC alignment.
  • Perform seismic bracing layouts with guidance.
  • Conduct kit takeoff counts for quotes/orders.
  • Use point load charts for spacing and loads.
  • Develop basic proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks.
  • Learn codes governing seismic engineering (ASCE-7, IBC, UFC, CBC).
  • Prepare quotations for suspended utilities and basic engineering.
  • Keep workspace tidy and handle additional duties.

ISAT Total Support /Tomarco is a leading provider of seismic engineering consulting services and the related products and hardware used for nonstructural seismic bracing and the support of Mechanical, Electrical, and Piping systems. Our focus is geared toward building utility systems within the commercial and industrial construction markets. Our primary focus includes but is not limited to, HVAC, mechanical, piping, distributed electrical systems, plumbing, process piping & fire protection contractors.

SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:

As an Assistant Project Manager, you’ll work closely with a Project Manager mentor, supporting various project tasks, including customer billing, modeling, coordination, point loads, and custom engineering. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional eager to develop project management skills through hands‑on experience and mentorship. You’ll gain exposure to essential functions in project coordination, documentation, communication, and technical support, building a foundation for future project management opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION
  • Manage smaller projects under direct guidance from a mentor, with all work reviewed.
  • Input all hours in billing tracking software (Nexus) for project, administrative, or personal leave.
  • Communicate effectively on project tasks and follow up after coordination meetings; document all communication electronically and share with the mentor PM.
  • Maintain organized project file folders, following company file structure standards.
  • Build basic submittals using TDLF/SDF and structural deck information, in hard or soft formats.
  • Create bracing legends for projects in line with CBC, IBC, and UFC standards.
  • Perform seismic bracing layouts with guidance, following the ISAT Seismic Bracing manual.
  • Conduct kit takeoff counts with nomenclature for quoting or material orders.
  • Use point load charts to determine spacing and loads for vertical and seismic loads, creating coordinated sets for submittal.
  • Develop basic proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
  • Acquire foundational knowledge of codes governing seismic engineering, including ASCE-7, IBC, UFC, and CBC.
  • Prepare quotations for suspended distributed utilities and basic custom engineering.
  • Maintain an organized and tidy workspace.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, business journals, and regulations.
  • Proficient in writing business correspondence and presenting information to various stakeholders.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, file management proficiency, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Basic mathematical skills for calculating variances, commissions, and financial ratios; experience with software for programming calculations.
  • Willingness to learn software applications such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
  • Basic knowledge or willingness to learn industry codes, including ASCE-7, IBC, UFC, and CBC.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or other process improvement methodologies is preferred.
